Just had a quick browse through and will look more closely in due course. Hadn't realised Tony had spent so much time putting his and his family's life history together - well done. As others who have shared part of the Pinks' life, I have enjoyed reading through the various sagas. As a schoolboy in the 60's, I was privilaged to being chauffered by Tony up to Ronnie Scott's or the 100 club to listen to various bands and the Ruby Braff/George Barnes quartet in particular. Have to admit to having the odd sneak at the naughty mags in the wholesale shop on a Ssaturday morning. Unlike Tony and Alan Robinson, am still running a jazz band in Doctor Jazz - in our 38th year at the Duke of Wellington at Ryarsh. Tony must be due to make one of his rare appearances shortly. All the best for now. |

Although much credit to your grandson, he could not have done it without your wealth of knowledge and experiences. You have both done a great job. I can recall a few memories duing those war years, and it took me all back listening to the Doodlebug. How clever that was. I really need to add Ken's story and memories that I have recorded and made a book of memories for our daughters and granddaughters. Plus get on to doing my own before it's too late. Anyway Tony, I thoroughly enjoyed your website. Best wishes to you and Mavis. Love Barbara. P.S. I am hoping you will leave some good remarks in my guest books too ![]() |

Its like reliving my own life.... some wonderful memories stirred. - My introduction to jazz music (when I stayed with you and Mavis for a weekend when my parents went away c1966. Later, the George Melly and other concerts at the Central Hall. - Working with you - and mostly John - on Sunday mornings (sorting newspapers on Chatham station platform at 5.30 on a cold February morning still brings back shivers). - The morning 'filling in' run around the Chatham newsagents in the Transit van, followed by darts at the Watermill in Canal Road - Being given lifts home from the Strood warehouse in Val's Sunbeam Alpine in Summer 1967 when I spent the holiday working full time for you, I imagine now just before she took it to Spain and you had to bring it back. - My first ever flight - a birthday present the day after my 21st birthday, done on the spur of the moment when we had finished sorting the papers on the Sunday morning in that 2-seater you used to fly from Roohester airport (my mother wouldn't sign the consent form you needed to take me up - when I reached 21 she didn't need to!). We flew over our house in Watling Street about three time and she guessed it was you giving me a flight and why I was late for breakfast. Best wishes to you and Mavis. Remember me to JFP when you see him. Thank you |

Thanks Dan for finding me a working "Guestbook" - I realise that only family will ever see this site, unless someone accidentally stumbles upon it, like Ken Mullin's daughter. I still don't know how she managed it! i couldn't stumble on it no matter how hard I tried! (from one fart to another!) |
