Well done strelets for doing this subject, long overlooked. They look very nice figures to me,although i know very little of the ww2 finnish army "they feel right". A good excuse for a new post as well, after all its been four days since a new thread was started........and some say the Hat forums boring ?

Re: ww2 FINNS

Thanks Ironsides,I will take a look,cheers.

Re: ww2 FINNS

They look impressive. Now we will need some early war winter Russian Infantry to go up against them.

Re: ww2 FINNS

Interesting that at least three figures (the first two moving submachine-gunners and the third prone figure) are wearing summer or fall uniforms, rather than winter jackets or smocks. I would have thought that Strelets would do a set of all-winter Finns. Still, if this one sells well (as it should), I would think that a second set of Finns with the winter/summer poses reversed could be on the horizon ...

Re: ww2 FINNS

From what Ive read supplies of Uniforms and equiptment were haphazard at best much more so then I previously thought..

"When the Winter War began, the soldiers were provided with a belt, a national cocade, and most of the time, an old French rifle. Only the regular army and the Suojeluskunta men had proper equipment."

Re: ww2 FINNS

And note also that fighting on the Karelian Isthmus was quite different from e.g. fighting at Suomussalmi.

Re: ww2 FINNS

Yes we could use the RCW sets, but I was hoping for something specifically for the Winter War.

Re: ww2 FINNS

I notice the Suomi SMGs are held in the Russian way (like a PPSh) where as the Finnish films I've seen often show them being gripped by the barrle but I don't know if that is correct or common.

Re: ww2 FINNS

Whole bunch on U-Tube seems ok to me...

Re: ww2 FINNS

A lot depends on what kind of combat you are in; if you are able to shoot short aimed bursts you rather not have your fingers between sights.
On the other hand every man has/learns his own preferences no matter what other say.
But the gun is sort of nice and soft to shoot - I liked it though we had only one chance to shoot live rounds with it.

Re: ww2 FINNS

The Finns look magnificent!! When are the Russians coming?
