The avatar is straight forward you need to join Bravenet to do it. The avatar pic is now a low res one with more grey hair and yes he is a CW General of (according to the caption) Astrakhan troops but Caucasian seems right.
The pic of the Ch d'A is also low res.

Hi professori,that sinteresting about teh avatar but i like my Fez even altho it has not been working on forums i have to type it. Its hard to associate teh rouskie regiments big names

1877 .I found interesting book to mirror the ones of Dr's RYan and Von Herbert. "A breakfast war" by teh war correspondents who were with teh rouskies.Forbes and Villietrs(sketch artist) at Plevna/Pleven.you probally read it.nice to see rouskie side of battle with contemporarty sources.
