Re: boers and colonials

I will be Mark. The Boers first fought with the British against the Zulus until the Zulus were pacified, then against the British.

When more sets are out, I'm going to watch both "Zulu Dawn" and "Zulu" again to get the same ideas your asking about.

Don't forget, S*R made both Infantry and Mounted Boers, and they look even better in your hands. I know! Excellent sets to have.

Happy Collecting!

Dear Marc

Don't forget the Boer weaponry would be different for the Zulu Wars. That's about all.

Re: boers and colonials

You can certainly use Boers and British from the Zulu wars against each other for the less well known 1st Boer War. I've used mine that way.

1st Boer War

Dear Will
For the First Boer war ( of course very close in time to the Zulu wars) the Boer weapons were Westley-Richards, two types and Martini-Henrys which would be similar for the Anglo Zulu war. A lot of the Strelets figures have prominent bolt action weapons with magazines but these could be modified. The older bandoliers would be different to those for the Mauser. One or two of the Strelets' figures have the older bandolier which is OK for the 2nd BW (as they still used Martini Henrys and Westley Richards) but of course the new Mauser bandoliers would be wrong for 1st BW and the Anglo Zulu war.
The clothes differ slightly between the two wars esp those from urban areas but at this scale it is not really noticeable though again older styles lasted (Boer thrift) and there is quite a good selection of all types in the Strelets set.
