Re: MO24 Austrian WWI Infantry

Hi Mike,

use them as (late war) Hungarians. (check out Osprey's men at arms about the ww2 hungarians, quite marvelous.)
Also, with some headswops, you could use them as germans (Gebirgsjaegers beacuse of the backpacks, volkssturm, etc.

Cheers,

Christiaan

Re: Re: MO24 Austrian WWI Infantry

Revell's and Emhar's WW1 Germans as well as Strelets WW1 Dragoons do double duty as WW2 Hungarians for me as well. I even recruited Hat's WW1 Austrians as WW2 Mountain troops since they have the same uniforms as the ones from Airfix. If you then add some Hat Napoleonic French limbers, guns form the Turkish artillery set and some figures from Hat's WW2 cavalry set, you have some decent field artillery. My favorite one being a dog team from the Austrian heavy weapon set pulling one of Hat's new small infantry guns, followed by some of Italeri's Italian mules. It makes me wanting to go to the mountains myself ;-)

Re: MO24 Austrian WWI Infantry

I used the hat WW1 Austrians for Romanians and I suspect that the Strelets ones could be used the same way.

Re: Re: MO24 Austrian WWI Infantry

They are very good for romanias. Mixed with the H.. set they make excellent romanian WW2 infantry. Besides the romanians lacked helmets from 1943 on so they are a good complement.

Good luck
Mat

Re: Re: MO24 Austrian WWI Infantry

You will need to add a little Milliput to the backs of their field caps to make them into proper WWII Romanians.

Late War Germans

I thought they could pass as late war Germans
