049 - Crimean French Cavalry

Hi SR,

Both the Crimean French Cavalry masters and the box art look great. Hopefully you will be able to post some pictures of the actual sprews soon.

It would be nice if they were made in mid-blue like the French Infantry sets so far.

This set is a nice surprise and should become be a very versatile and popular Cavalry Command, whether as a one-box set of the traditional 12 like alot of kids first ever HO set, or in waves of chargers in diaromas and wargames, not to mention converting to other eras.

It would be nice if you painted up a set ASAP and posted them to your catalogue like some of the other sets you've done before. The French tri-colors of red/white/blue used in various combinations during the Crimea, Foreign Legion, Mexico, Franco-Prussian, WWI etc. have been a life-long eye-catcher for me.

Splendid work with this useful set both in plastic and on canvas.

Merci beaucoup Mssrs

Dear Garrison

Hank and I comment below on this set.

One prototype/master figure was in the future releases section for ages. It became a permanent fixture a bit like the Colonial wars Highlander and the GNW Russian Early infantry. The figure is the one on the icon for the masters section -the one in dark green. This figure must have been deleted from the actual set. In reality it is a strange pose as they are much better with the carbine slung over the shoulder rather than holding it in the right hand. The twelve depicted look fine - something for everybody.

Yes David a great transformation to put teh carbine slung over back. The original figure looked buck standard 2dimension to me but now theese are teh 3dimension. However its teasing presence on the coming soon class kept hope for production for long time by himself.

When you look at teh entire cw range it is good and wide smile .the rousskies selection are superb.what a treat to have all these and plenty.
Very campaign rustic(trendy word is good)

Allied pending arrival of key linking sets to CW like these fr cav ,dar ei say teh turk infantry is motivate me buying more.

this leads us into enrico piedmonts but thats a nother thread i hop to soon.

Re: Re: Re: 049 - Crimean French Cavalry

Dear Hank

Turkish artillery would be useful especially for Kars and Bashi Bazouks could be used for lots of other conflicts in that part of the world.
Yes you are right. Other than field artillery and Italeri/Esci and Emhar do that, the Russians are quite complete. It is a magnificent series.
Emhar do the French infantry but when I look at them I think they are more 1871 than 1854 but with Enrico Ricciardi type modifications (beards and volumising) they look good.
So:
almost complete
greatcoats infantry and artillery
artillery
everything
Sardinia everything

Then for maybe the first time in the history of plastic 1/72 scale figures there will be some semblance of a range similar to the ones you get in white metal (eg -Wargames Foundry).
