Hello Friends I have just seen on ITALERI website the new Mongol Cavalry set which according to the pics seems to be rather a command set actually. What we find on the base of a 5 figure by sprue set is a Chief, 2 senior officers, and a very interresting drummer on a Camel and as well as a very good knight with a hawk. One thing is the picture is takem from too far so you hardly see the details, the other point is you get 3 sprues of this Command..
Anyway, Strelets and Zvezda Russian Medieval Horsemen get ready to protect Holy Russia from these new invaders.
5 poses only ?! it's a shame and a bit radiculous these days. Italeri used to have better cavalry sets e.g. Teutonic Knights and Mongols (the first one) sets and unfortunalty such losers as Celtic and Roman Cav. sets. They are going to repeat the old story I presume. I only hope that accompaning Chinese set will have more poses.
Please send us a link
I can only say that they look absolutely great and i doesn't matter if there are 3 identical sprudes and not fighting Mongol. It's a piece of Art and I be ddeply impressed. And I'm sure that in this the other upcomming Italeri relaeses will also be on the same standart with 3 identical sprudes. It's a new policy but not the worsest I think. And the quality of figures (the most important thing) is superb!!!
I agree with Martin Macalka.
I'd rather have just five unique and beautiful figures like this than a dozen or more run-of-the-mill or much-like-many-other ones.
I hope this set will be available soon, 'cause I just can't wait to have those figures off the sprue and sitting on my desk in front of me.
Thanks for the link,
Actually the figures look very nice. As some of you posted, I also do not mind if there are 3 sprues, this is a good command group definetely, the figures are beautiful, and even the size would not be a problem: in case they are bigger, they will look better as leaders in the battlefield, when put togehter with the regular troops. Well done Italeri. I want to see the chinese as well...
size is accurate (no longer Prussian giants or American zombie-faces)! We will have them in Europe unil 4 weeks!
The guy with the bird of prey on his arm realy looks the part as does the guy on the camel. nice figures to go alongside my Strelets and Zvezda figures from this era.
First I Agree with Ted about the 5 only poses point, as well as with the Roman and Gallic Cavalries mess.
On the other hand I agree with Martin and Peter about the poses that look superb. That is may be why we can regret they are so few poses.
Finally this command set will complete well the first Mongol set. I can't help myself from imagining me taking pleasure in painting those figures while listenning to BORODINE "Cental Asia Steppes" because there is something Mythical with those new Mongols Figures.
To finish with Mongols and Chinese were close so with the new Italeri (that we cannot see yet) Chinese set will may be provide us too with some interresting good poses figures.
