Big Band Sets

Its a pity the 1/72 manufacturers in all their wisdom do not make one off special sets (and sold at higher price)for dead cert big sales.A great collectors set box for 1812 or 1815 anniversary 200 coming up.

Imperial Garde Band and Batterie de L'Imperial garde.Who wouldnt pay $50 for them.To die for, right collectors ?

Another set mounted Prussian Band plenty of oomph, and a British Foot Guards Band.Brunswick Band

Russian Austrian Band etc French Foot Band

Its a pity to see all those Garde L'Imperial figures from the contributor without a better scale sized band etc.Make them "jour de campaign" as well.

I think only minifigs have done the French Guard and Batterie(Drum corps)thats way big at 25mm.

Re: Big Band Sets & Colonial figures

Hank,
I've got a plasticHyttp generic Napoleonic band.
A Band through the Ages series would sell nearly as well as Colonials in my opinion.

Donald don't tell anyone...but

I see a set like this,as being like a ferrari or a porsche.Every car fancier at some stage wants one but can only buy a model. Most of us that would be content.

The problem WE colelctors/wargamers(big morale fatcor for band presence) SHARE is there is no models as such for a 1/72 etc full Napoleonic guard band .One would think the HTTY would have followed it up.i sure bought that box as soon as was available and waited for a sequel = zero....

if ever a company needed to do something to contribute a momentous item for its hobby collectors it would be of this ilk.

If no Nap bands are done by 1812/1815 then i think i forget Napoleonics. Even Colonial british they have their bands with them in India S,Africa etc....ah well
there is much to the saying "just follow the drums"..

Re: Donald don't tell anyone...but

You'll get no argument from me, Hank.
I love bands. I do have a mostly metal Guards band but would love to add to it.
I have a janissaries band from (mostly) Orion figures.
And a few more.
But what about a Pipe band? ACW bands?
It is a great topic for a series.
HTTY BTW went out of business I think....hope this isn't a bad omen.

...or Tommy Dorsey..or even Count Basie ?

Re: Re: Big Band Sets

this theme brings back memories, many years ago i
converted Airfix bandsmen into ACW musicians for both sides, basically head swops, Confederate band 1st Virginia, did a good job on drum major, still playing well, also made Scots Greys band for Crimea using Airfix bandsmen and US Cavalry

as for metal, Kennington did a few Napoleonic , i've got in my collection the Minifigs bandsmen, French guard, mounted bands and British

K & L/ Thomas Industries produced in true 20mm scale Acw bandsmen, slightly smaller than our plastic figs but ok

Alberken fore runner of Minifigs made very nice Frech Guard band, nice figs
cheers old john

Re: Re: Re: Big Band Sets

thanks for the info John ,its good to hear about these figures. and yes its a pity we dont have more band figures.

I would add a Glenn Miller style Band for WW2 BE GOOD FOR DIORAMA folk. One of the sad mysteries of ww2 that was never accounted for.
