Future French Lancers with "Czapka Cap" Crimean War & French-Mexican War

Dear Strelets*R & Other Forum Members,

The original thread for Strelets*R suggestion of French Lancers is now buried pretty far down the page below, so I'd like to continue with a new, or continued one here. Thanks!:

If I may add after the fact, I'd love to see French Lancers who also wore the Czapka four-pointed cap. The example I'm thinking of was in the movie "Major Dundee" with Charlton Heston and Richard Harris. These were French military stationed in Mexico before and during the American Civil War, I suppose at the end of the Maxamillian era in Mexico.

The Czapka these Lancers wore were smaller, but very beautiful looking. The uniforms are simple. I hope these Frenchmen could be used for other campaigns also !!!

Thanks for reading this far ...

Hi Dave,
I think there might be a market in this hobby for two
things: 1) A conversion kit and 2) Completer Kit

1) The conversion kit would simply be a box containing
sprues and sprues of heads; Bare headed heads, bandaged
heads, heads wearing bell top shakoes, heads wearing
tall cylindrical shakoes, bonnets de police, czapkas
etc... Also contained in the kit would be extra arms,
weapons etc...

2) The completer kit would be a box of figures that
complete a previously released box of figures. As an
example: Hat Austrian Napoleonic line infantry ; the set is missing a standard bearer, a drummer, an officer in frock coat, the box would contain maybe 16 of each figure.

Hi Paul,

You have a good idea. I've been thinking the same. Here is a link that shows an 8-headed hydra (joking), an 8-headed accessory sprew with different Napoleonic headdress. Conceivably, you could do the same for the bodies and have generic uniforms, which could be painted up more detailed. I like your idea very much. Here is the link - after you open it, scroll down the page to the bottom where the sprew picture is - Cheers:

Bruno Arnal,a French gentleman is actually producing metal seperate heads- so far, the bonnet de police, rouleau shako, colpack and plumed bicorne. I picked some up from Kai Fuhrmann- endless conversion possibilities!
