Dear Strelets,

As you know I really love your figures. Today I worked on my new Russian Dragoons as well as Russian Inf. 1812. The figures are asolutely fantastic and I placed them with the HAT Russians and others -because the HAT Russian Cossacks as well as Dragoons are also made in green plastic colour. I think it is really important to have also only one colour line - for your Russians of Napoleonic Wars I love your green (excellent the Blue for the French units.) But regretably 1) the HAT 'Green' figures do not have the high standart of scuplpting (were done in 1997) and the evolution in sculpting/poses etc. was enourmously in this area. 2) you Russian Ulans are regretably not in green as well as your earlier Russian Hussars and 1/2 Staff-set 3) I would also like to have such a great Staff set for the Russian site like the two great French Napoleonic staff sets which where also in your excellent blue colour.

By the way: some weeks before I mentioned that you might release next year a line of Prussans: Ulans, Hussars, Dragoons, Cuirassiers - Battle of Leipzig??? also with one (?) infantry unit - and hopefully with other important elements of each army. What about a great Battle-frield -set with also wounded horses, support units, wagons, field camps etc?

And last but not least: in our 1:72 figure collection we do have several Prussian sets. I thik it would be more important to strengen the Austrian army (like you have done this in your Russian/French releases: 1x Autrian Infantry 12 poses (Mini) + Austrian Ulans, Austrian Husars, Austrian Ulans, Austrian Kürassiere.

Please make singel Staff sets for each great Nation.
Please make also the confederat staff set with foot figures!!!!
Please extend your Napoleonic range!!! (and thinkabout colour!!!)
Please do colour variations!
Please do further big-Battle-sets: Leipzig, Austerliz, Battle of Akkon (with new special figures in a big box with your crusade-range) etc.

What's about your planned WWII German field camp and Staff and Allied camp and Staff??

When can we expect the Honved WWI??????

What about a animal serie?
Please make next year also Artilery Russian/French for Borodino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and produce further Artillery sets!!!!!!!!!!!
(My opinion is that it is nice to produce a Germanic already -which is stll represented and was not soo important or new again French cuirassiers (I think it is ok but there were gaps which would be more important to fill it).

Martin - I agree entirely with you post. Great suggestions.

Plastic color is important to me too. Good sculpted figures with interesting poses in appropriate colors look great massed together. My painting skills aren't very good so I place a high value on colored plastic. I can easily paint WW1 and WW2 because I can make the figures look great by drybrushing and staining; no need for intricate details. I mainly buty Strelets, Caesar and Zvezda because they use great colors. I'd buy more hat sets if they put more emphasis on colored plastics.

What do you do with blan colored sets, or do you even buy them? I've considered painting napoleonics, but I don't have the time to learn to paint well; maybe when the kids are grown and out of the house.

and what's about, say, a deviation from "one army - one colour" concept? For example, Light Brigade was predominantly blue in their uniforms but we released them in terracotta, will somebody like to have them in blue?

Yes, colour variations would be great: a Light Brigade in blue and in gray , the entire 'Into the Valley of Death' in blue and in gray, above all, the 'French Army Camp'in blue and in gray (brown makes it out of place with all other napoleonic sets for those collectors and gamers who do not paint their figures)

And what if the colour of the horses will be different to the colour of the riders?

If I may cut in line here, I would like the horses to be the same color.

This discussion was brought up a couple of years ago and I recall there was consensus for multicolered horses. But honestly, I'm not keen on the khaki tan colored horses with terracotta riders.

If the horses were darker, say a super dark brown like the Boers, then maybe.

But still, now that I've seen S*R's sets, as well as many 54mm companies who produce multicolored horses, I still like the same color horses and riders.

As a nonpainter, I still like that thrill of opening up a box and seeing it all matches.

I agree: unless there is some economic motive here, horses should be the same colour as riders.

I think that since the horses are on a separate sprue producing them in a more natural colour would be the obvious choice. If the troopers are Scots Greys then the horses should be white or grey, if British Cavalry in the 18/19 centuries the horses were referred to as cavalry blacks. Then due to a shortage of blacks other regiments adopted bays. I am not sure of other nations but a nice dark brown would probably be a good choice.

The whole idea of an army being produced all in the same colour is insane. With Napoleonic British as an example the infantry and heavy cavalry wore red jackets, apart from the Oxford Blues (cavalry) and the Rifles (Infantry in Green) but the Artillery and Light cavalry wore blue. So if you produced this army the individual sets would be best produced in this mix of colours.

If each nation is reduced to 1 national colour the figures just look like game pieces from risk or any other board game.

Summary: Looking at these, as well as my own here at home, I have to prefer same color horses and men, but I would also prefer British Artillery in Blue, Infantry in Terracotta, Highlanders in Khaki, Terracotta and even Blue.

For Artillery Cannons, I would prefer Gray or Dark Silver. Cassion Sets look nice in Gray. I think the Russian Naval Cannons in Silver works well. I used them for a scratch-built ACW Ironclad. Here are examples of each:

I'm with Bono on the Indians for the AWI and earlier French-Indian conflict. American Civil War figures are always a safe bet and no firm has brought any new sets out in several years. Skirmishing, dismounted cavalry would be great.
