Changing my request for them French Guys

To the Plastic Soldier Gods

Now that we have wasted time arguing over 14 seperate posts whether to call them Marines or Land Challenged Sailors, I wish to change my original wishlist!

I want to request them French Guys who walk & talk like Marines, but you can't call them Marines because "Marine" is French for "Navy" and the actual Navy guys were basically Navy Artillerymen who were put ashore due to shortages of land units but had a distinctive uniform seperate than that of the actual Infantry and were not unlike their British counterparts who actually had Marines that served aboard ships and were seperate from regular Infantry due only to their distinctive decorative Hat and am I going to fast for you???

Anyway, that's what I want!!!

Re: Changing my request for them French Guys

Hi Patrick,
Look at what I've just contributed to the thread you've started earlier. Did I get your intentions right?

Best regards

Re: Re: Changing my request for them French Guys

Well, I think everybody wants a set like this so bad, that they want to be sure that strelets makes what they want.
I would like to see sailors of the guard (perhaps with some engineers of the guard). And if possible a set dedicated to the French navy. Crews, gunners,... Would be nice. Ex-gunners in greatcoat for 1813 campaign would also be nice. Could be used as elite infantry in gretcoat.

Question: why did Napoleon use them as infantry and not as artillerymen. After all, that was their job.

Re: Re: Re: Changing my request for them French Guys

Because in 1813 he had to search for Veterans to fill his new conscribt army. For this he took troops from Spain and the French navy.

The Artillerie de la marine was one of this units.
And Bony needed infantrymen, so they got their muskets.

cheers
Uwe

I'm sorry Patrick, you've lost me.
Which French guys was that?

Ceasar's latest

Ceasar's new sets are a Napoleonic treat.
Highland artillery.
British lancers.
Austrian Guard infantry.
Russian rocket troops.
French marines.
Check out the scans under their fantasy section.

Re: Ceasar's latest

What scans? Can't seem to find anything like this on the Caesar site.

Re: Re: Ceasar's latest

Dear George,

Donald is pulling our leg - making jokes that is. Continuing an irrelevant discussion on the proper terminology for the napoleonic "marins de la garde", which he can not forgive Patrick for calling marines, he concluded the dispute with this announcement, including french marines in fantasy soldiers, exactly as the other mentioned sets are.
Some might find that funny. On April 1st last year, najemo showed plates of the uniforms of french napoleonic "hussards de l'air", first paratroops to be deployed from balloons. Some took that for real.

Re: Re: Ceasar's latest

Dear George,
I do apologise for my joke.
I only hope to raise a smile or two & not offend.
regards, donald

Re: Re: Re: Ceasar's latest

No offence taken at all. It's just that you got me a bit excited is all.:) Oh well, back to wistful waiting for more Napoleonic releases and/or announcements.
