Hi James many thanks for your suggestions, i have already sorted Haiduks and Mars figures for this period, any other suggestions would be very helpful. Do you have any info on uniforms, books , colour plates etc any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers Old John
Dear John,
I have sent you an email.
James
Dear Michael,
presumably, you're writing about this?
Best regards,
Strelets
Yes, dear Streletz team. Looks like a solid gun to me. Will be perfect with its crew.
Best regards
Michael
Well between this big gun and the mortar shown as well, id say all main wants are checked! What a great looking sculpt. The real question is what is that 20th century figure?🤔
I love the big gun and the mortar:relaxed:
What the presumed russian soldier is?? Maybe a new range? Not yet produced: but what about Russo-Japanese war 1904-1905???
Keep collecting plastic soldiers dear forum members!!!
By Jove
Thank you for seeking our input on this Strelets. All in all I think the range is pretty comprehensive and covers most everything needed to field complete armies from the period. The only two suggestions that I’d have and others have already beat me to, is for a set of Hungarian Hussars and a siege/camp set. As mentioned sieges were very prevalent in the war and a set of men in a siege camp or manning the trenches/ramparts would be awesome. Some things that would be awesome though not necessarily needed all that bad, would be a set of limbered artillery or a baggage train. With that being said though you’ve brought a period to life that had previously been neglected and I am very content with everything available as is.

Hé hé
a Soviet officer with an 18th century mortar :hushed: ?
Personnally, I don't care about the Soviet - the sculpting looks nice though - the mortar looks fabulous and perfectly fits into WSS range
Greetings
Michael
Dear Strelets and WoSS Lovers,
I agree with Siege Troops (Artillery, Mortars and the men digging the traverses to the ramparts).
A set of heavy artillery when no siege troops are made. Artillery limbers with horses???
With 3400 WoSS figures of 8300 figures from Strelets this range is much loved in my collection of over 100 000 figures 1/72 and I love to expand this range.
Strelets I thank you for keeping the plastic soldiers on the map!
By Jove
Have a nice week-end!
Best regards,
Strelets
They are a fine looking set of Gentlemen.
Those big cuffs look very handy..for hiding the odd looted rabbit or string of onions.
Although I am not collecting the WSS range, the seige gun looks like a very good stand in for the 18pdr in CS Forester's novel The Gun, set roughly 100 or so years later during the "Peninsular War" set in the Iberian Peninsular. Something else for me to add to the purchase list to support the Spanish partisans.
I'm sure I can find a home for the seige mortars too. Lovely stuff.
The charging dragoons to go with Anton's lovely coverart work!
Thanks Strelets, thanks Yuri,
James
Hi
Happy May (Workers) Day
thanks for the consultation on the range, which, as you say, is already pretty comprehensive
I would suggest:
Hussars (fought both for Imperial Army, France and Hungarian rebellion and prob some for the Ottomans)
General Command Set - Mounted Personalities and ADCs (could reuse some of the General figs in the existing Cav packs)
Pretty sure most WSS troop types can be fielded by paint and flags using your existing collection
Keep up the good work
What a box you have opened. I concur with most of what has been said. I'd like to see the "command" box of ADCs include Marlborough's "running footmen". Although I don't need them now (got 3D prints) the absence of small battalion guns is also an omission.
Now for the big ask.
Prinz Eugene spent a lot of time fighting Ottomans in the 18th century, in some major battles. Whilst some other manufacturers make 17th century Ottomans that just about pass for 18th century, the quality isn't great and as I said they only "just about" pass. So, I think we need
Janissaries
"Azab" infantry
Sipahis on unarmoured horses with more lances and fewer bows
Akinci light cavalry
Ottoman artillery. Lots of it.
There's a good Helion book on the Ottoman Armies in the time of Louis XIV from Helion published in the last few years.
I agree on some mortars/siege guns. Although it would be nice to have smaller mortars as well for battlefield. Period limbers as well.
Horse grenadiers would be nice. I've made some from conversions but an actual set would be good. And a period set of hussars.
The one set I would like to see in 1/72, which would be peripheral to WSS but fit more GNW would be Polish Pancerni. I've bought various cossack/Red Box sets and plan on headswaps and conversions plus may buy some metal but an actual set of Pancerni with mail armour and pistols/carbines would be popular for GNW and earlier wars.
Other than that, you have done a wonderful job producing the WSS range.
