Welcome to the Strelets Forum. Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets. If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
Hello! I've been wanting to build a Victorian/1877 Russo-Turkish War Ottoman Army. While infantry are generally still quite easy to obtain, both cavalry and artillery are quite hard to find. So I have two questions:
1. Are there any marketplace that still stock both Strelets' Turkish Regular Cavalry and Turkish Artillery sets? Will these two ever be re-released?
2. Are there any tips for proxying Turkish Cavalry and Artiller in 1:72? Currently my best bet are HaT's Egyptian Camel Corps on a horse as well as Orion's Basmachi and Russian cossacks to represent Circassian irregulars
It is extremely unlikely that we will re-release this series.
We've got about 500 sets with probably about half of them completely sold out.
Every year we make about 10 re-releases, i.e. chances that a specific set will be re-released are 1:25. Since with every subsequent year the number of sets that are sold out increases, these chances are getting even slimmer.
As to the availability in stock, we recommend to check on-line shops that you can find on Plastic Soldier Review.
I’ve been searching for the exact same things, and this year I finally found a set of ottoman artillery on eBay. I think that’s about the only chance you have. Just check often and see what shows up. Otherwise the only other thing I’ve found is that Egyptians work well for the Ottomans, and you can piece together some solid cavalry forces out of the many Strelets cossack sets. Even some of the WWI Russian Cossacks might be of use
I've actually ordered that one, but eBay won't ship it due to "sanctions" lol I've contacted the seller, hopefully he'll consider shipping it to me again with another courier.
Yeah, Anglo-Egyptians work well, so there are no shortage on the infantry front. Too bad there's no good Egyptian cavalry for use. My other plan is to snip the heads of any spares from HaT's Egyptian Camelry and stuck it to other HaT's cavalry, I'm thinking of British 17th Lancers.
