Re: Friday Post

I don't the know the specifics, but I do know that these must be WSS cavalry. Great to see and a very welcome addition. I will never complain about more WSS!

Re: Friday Post

Great masters. I love SSW line. Brava Strelets.

Re: Friday Post

You are certainly giving this period the 'Strelets' treatment', i.e. doing it in full!

While each set is/has been nominally of a specific type and nation, they are inherently able to be used to represent a range of troops and the wonderful variety of poses and themes of each set only adds to this. Furthermore, the differences between the work of your new sculptor and the wonderful Anton (RIP), afford more variety while still being perfectly compatible. Thanks for all of these aspects!

Best wishes, James

p.s. Previously, I the captcha did not work with Safari on my Mac, but it worked with Firefox. Today it seems that Safari is gonna work, so thanks for whatever changes you have made.

Re: Friday Post

Dear James,

you're right assuming that due to uniform similarities of the period with proper painting these units can represent even opposing forces.
Our last Spanish infantry set can easily be painted as French unit, since uniforms are almost indentical anyway. Marching or charging Imperial troopers can also be painted as any other army.
We've been reproached for not making bigger caliber artillery, whereas such cannons have been made already for our GNW series for Swedes and Russians and they also can be easily used for other armies.
We will make few other unique units that can't be easily converted and the series can be largely closed leaving our hands free for other subjects.

Best regards,

Strelets

Re: Friday Post

Dear Yuri,

Thanks so much for replying and especially for the last sentence:

"We will make few other unique units that can't be easily converted"—could this include Imperial hussars, perhaps?!!

"... leaving our hands free for other subjects." Perhaps you are gonna give the Seven Year's War the same 'Strelets' Treatment', or will you make a 'suite' of sets of pre-Bardin French line infantry, similarly to your recent British lights, in full dress, with fusiliers, grenadiers and voltigeurs in each box? The Ottoman army following the reforms of Selim III, maybe? Or perhaps it will be entirely new periods/eras that you will be turning your attention to?

I await excitedly, but patiently to see what these might be.

As always, thank you for your work and best wishes to all at Strelets, James

:zipper_mouth_face: Please, don't reveal secrets!

"The Ottoman army following the reforms of Selim III, maybe?"
Alas, materials (especially visual) for the Ottomans are pretty scarce, although they (Turks) may be relevant for sertain conflicts.

Strelets

Re: Friday Post

Oooooh!! Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Perhaps you will spill the beans yourself some Friday not too far away?!

Ah well, I'll stick with the mix that I have for the Ottomans of 1789–1815, including your marvellous Mamluks, some extra 1877 Turks in winter dress to convert as Nizam infantry and your Bashi-bazouks.

I look forward to surprises various in the weeks and months to come!

Best wishes to youse all, James

Re: Friday Post

Magnificent sculps. Have you consideres making a full comand set with officers, ensinghts and musicians?

Re: Friday Post

With all due respect, there's no shortage of command figures in this range. Indeed, they are dispersed among many sets but they cover more or less every rank or aspect from flamboyant marshalls to wounded or dying NCOs or musicians.

Re: Friday Post

well done, first post in ages, had almost given up trying.

Re: Friday Post

Dear Alan,

Did you receive our e-mails?
Regards,

Yuri

Re: Friday Post

Hi Yuri, No, but thanks for trying, I have an ex MOD desktop, a gift from one of my son`s, for reasons no one can explain it does not like some emails and they vanish ! not in spam etc, simply never arrive . I will add you to the list , it is in the main friends and private email addresses that fail.and as I say, no idea why. But very pleased to be back and posting.

Re: Friday Post

it was more with the intention of making more units with each box, expecialy infantry. but i understan is not a priority

Re: Friday Post

Dear NAM,

it has been a standard in our hobby for a very long time to have a command group for about 40-50 foot soldiers or 9-15 mounted ones.
Making command figures as a separate set is always a risk that it will never pay back the investment. Moreover, even 50 rank and files is a bit low in terms of genuine officers/soldiers ratio. To make a correct company you usually need 2 boxes with only one command group. With minor paint conversion one can easily use a spare command group for other units.

Best regards,

Strelets
