Chopper and Ant

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/chopper-and-ant.html

I got this chopper from a friend and it looks familiar but I can't place who made it, MPC maybe? It's on the small side for me but I think I may use it as a gate guard or some such thing. It is my favorite shade of my favorite color of metallic blue. I want a 1964 Chevrolet Suburban in that color, with air conditioning and automatic transmission that has been fully restored. But all I can afford is the free helicopter.

I also got a giant ant from the same source. It's a great ant, and I repainted it to use as a statue.

50 Caliber AT Guns

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/50-caliber-at-guns.html

One of the fun things about this hobby is the research into history. I found a few photos of troops who made essentially a 37mm anti-tank gun version using a .50 caliber machine gun. It was made from scratch, not mounted on a 37mm ATG but clearly that was the inspiration for the design. The US .50 caliber was intended as an AT gun by the US Army when first fielded.

So I made one for my troops, and I did use a few Roco 37mm ATG parts for mine, and a Jeep wire cutter and other bits. It was an easy conversion and I am only doing one, but I think it's kinda cool.

Airfix Figures, Roco Minitanks

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/anti-tank-strong-point.html

US Army prepares an anti-tank defense using 37mm anti-tank guns. These guns did actually manage to knock out a few tanks in WWII usually when mounted on Stuart tanks or sometimes are armored cars where the mobility helped them get in close.

A towed AT gun needed a long range or excellent camouflage to insure a lethal hit. Still getting peppered by these quick firing guns was likely at least a bit unnerving no matter what tank you were inside of at the time.

Roco Minitank Van Truck

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/camouflage.html

Roco Minitank truck in an unusual camouflage scheme gets a bit of an upgrade. Also some speculation on what the original scheme was intended to be and why I am changing it up.

Painting Jeeps

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/painting-jeeps.html

Work continues on my early Cold War US Army tank battalion with some Jeeps getting painted and crews being prepared for manning those Jeeps.

I was thinking that in wargame rules, troops that are unpainted should be considered as untrained, and the painting is their training. But since the vast majority of my collection is unpainted plastic, that probably would not work for me. Maybe it's advanced training and painted guys are elite?

Concrete Breaker

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/concrete-breaker.html

Plastic model engineer equipment in HO scale. Clearing bombed out roads is essential. Repairing damaged bridges is critical. All sorts of projects often begin with clearing the debris and when it is concrete, a tool like this one is helpful.

This is a long out of production Boley model that I got a while ago. It is getting some conversion work and a repaint. Stay tuned for further developments.

Yellow Breaker

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/yellow-breaker.html

This concrete breaker is made by Boley, but long out of production. I got it from Fidelis Models, they still have a few in stock. https://fidelismodels.com/collections/boley-civilian-vehicles

This is a sturdy little kit and can be converted to several different types of construction equipment. I got several and have made a few changes in them.

Destruction of a Ruin

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/destruction-of-ruin.html

Boley construction equipment with Dapol construction workers demolish a damaged building.

Clearing debris is an important military function. Clear fields of fire, clear roads for re-supply, clear paths to advance against the enemy are all important.

Bucket Crane from Concrete Breaker

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/crane-from-concrete-breaker.html

My plan is to have several large cranes as part of my WWII US Army Engineer troops. I wanted to have both concrete breakers and cranes with a bucket, but somehow ended up with just concrete breakers. Rather than order more bucket cranes, I just made some concrete breakers into bucket cranes.

Good for digging ditches for fuel pipelines, or communications wire, or even as trenches these are handy vehicles to have around. Of course, in real life the crane would likely have a selection of buckets, and breakers to select from depending on the mission. Not always the case in the model world.

Painting the Crane

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/painting-crane.html

The Boley crane needed some work and a paint job to be the Army crane I wanted. So I chopped up the concrete breaker and made it into a bucket crane.

Then it was time for the Army Green spray paint. No primer for this because it's Rust-Oleum 2X which is paint and primer together. It's also a very dark color which covers very well.

Testing the Kiss Kiss Club

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/testing-kiss-kiss-club.html

I set up the nearly completed Kiss Kiss Club in 1/72nd scale, based on the James Bond movie Thunderball.

There are a few pieces of set dressing yet, and a few more figures necessary but it's almost there. And it all seems to fit together well. The palm trees are inserted into slots so they can be removed for easy of play or for storage in a shorter box.

Hi Rise Building

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/hi-rise-buildings.html

Modern warfare often takes place in cities. And that means I need high rise buildings in my cities. Making a building exterior is not that difficult, but how do you make the inside of a 40 story building in 1/72nd scale?

So the first thing is don't try and make a 40 story building. Just make those floors that are relevant. First floor, top floor and a few in the middle.

He's how I am experimenting on the problem.

Rockets and Parachutes

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/09/rockets-and-parachutes.html

Two more projects getting a little progress made. One a couple Honest John rockets have been repainted and made a little nicer, and the second a few grounded parachutes that are finally getting painted after 20+ years! They look much better painted. The Honest John rockets look much better in red and white instead of orange and white.

Over the last year I have been trying to tidy up a few projects that have been languishing and these are a couple of them. I have several other large projects like the Kiss Kiss Club that are also moving forward, including a secret project that is pretty large.
