Re: Partizan Show - Newark 10th October.

Which show in the UK is best for plastic 1/72? I’ve never been to a show, but am tempted to visit one in the next year.

Re: Partizan Show - Newark 10th October.

I don't know that any show is the best for 1/72. Both Newark and Alumwell normally have one or two suppliers with big stocks of Strelets. Zvezda, Red Box and so on, so that's what surprised me about this show. Of course they are in a minority amongst the suppliers of 28mm Perrys - every other stand - and the manufacturers like Baccus, Tumbling Dice and so on.

Re: Partizan Show - Newark 10th October.

I have been to to a few of these wargaming shows in fact there is a show 5 mins from my house the recon show in leeds.
There is not that many 1/72 items only a few stalls.
The best bit is the table top sale where anybody can sell there unwanted items.
Quite a lot of the booty is 1/72 & there is much cheapness & many bagains to be had:yum:.

Re: Partizan Show - Newark 10th October.

I have to say that 'Colours' at Newbury, which I attend most years when it is running, has never been quite the same since Andy Harfield retired. His stand, packed with new and second-hand 1/72 sets, was a gold mine, and a good place to stop and have a chat about what-was-what in the world of 1/72 plastics.

I wonder if there are any 'replacements' for Mr and Mrs Harfield. They ran a great business, much missed.

Yes Andy is sorely missed by many including me. Ah waiting for the list of his latest offerings and hoping your email order was the first.

Hello Jah
Thank you for your final order and kind words regarding our pending retirement.
13 items are now in stock and reserved for you.
Another age:sob: Hope they are enjoying their retirement.

Used to be in some splendid redbrick gothic monstrosity - which, for me, was much of the attraction - now, it seems, it takes place in a shed.

Cannot really get enthusiastic about that.

Yes. It was in Kelham Hall. Lovely building, terrible parking and dreadful lighting in most of the halls. It is now held at Newark Showground, and although the building is ugly you can park, loading/unloading is much easier and you can see what you are doing.

Re: Partizan Show - Newark 10th October.

Fair points, but I was looking forward to seeing the show again in the near future, but now, the magic has gone for me!

Hi

The bring and buy at any show can be where you get lucky re 1/72 kits being moved on. I think this was left out due to Covid at this show.

A good show will provide some inspiration, ideas and access to lots of books. So I d recommend going to the nearest show and see what you think.

Newark is two hours South for us but I think it's worth it due to the quality and quantity of the games on display. Also easy to access, park and move round inside!

Other personal favourites would be BattleGround in Stockton (20th Nov), York (usually last Sunday in Jan) and Border Reivers (Sept in Gateshead). The Edinburgh show start August also good.
