Re: Question for Strelets

Strelets-R
Dear Rich,

1. no
2. WSS series
3. ACW series

Best regards,

Strelets
A 'Thank you' to Strelets for these honest answers.

With regards 2: I'd say that the WoSS range has been a notable triumph for the most part, and the new cavalry figures, foot dragoons and artillery sets that have all been previewed look excellent.

With regards 3: yes, I agree that some of the ACW sets could have been better in terms of detail and definition of the mouldings; although having said that there are some useful sets there.

With regards 1: Yes, let's have some more excellent sets this year, and us buyers will certainly be buying them! Napoleonics, WW2, obviously more WoSS, and the odd deserty set thrown in for good measure. Great stuff!

Re: Question for Strelets

Thanks for the question Rich and for your answer Strelets.

I am sure that I am not the only one who will look forward to the next 48 or so Fridays with great anticipation!

All the very best to all who make Strelets such a great manufacturer of figures.

Regards, James

Re: Question for Strelets

First answer it' s hard to eat...I hope in a sorprese everytime. Second and third it' s same for me. Good work Strelets crew.

Re: Question for Strelets

I agree with everyone. In a way disappointed for no new series. I hope ACW is revisited as series "2.0" - we know there are more sets left to do (remember AP's fantastic box art?). Will ACW series continue in 2021 Mr. Strelets?

Re: Question for Strelets

As for number 3, I personally think your being too hard on yourselves Mr. Strelets. The ACW series provided MANY positive figures and poses that were much needed in the ACW field. Your officer poses were very useful, and your Robert E Lee figure was sensational!. The wounded figures were very usesful, and your attack and marching figures gave us many new and exciting poses for our battlefields. I hope you will continue the series because for many of us Civil war enthusiasts, our appetites have been wetted with your fine products!

I agree Chuck.

Strelets' figures for the American Civil War are the best available in the scale, for mine, in terms of variety of poses and types, subjects and detail. The fineness of the detail and proportion of the figures are both most pleasing. I did not 'need' any of them, but was compelled by their attractiveness to buy at least one of each set (multiples of many of them)!

Re: Question for Strelets

Is "hard to eat" a direct translation of an Italian expression or have you translated the English expression "hard to swallow"? Not a problem I fully understand what you mean and am grateful that you take the trouble to comment in English, it just amused a little. Like you I am a bit disappointed that there will be no new eras this year. I'm still hoping that at some time Byzantines will get comprehensively covered in all their different incarnations and troop types.

Re: Question for Strelets

If no new eras means more energy pushed into existing ones then thats ok. Still lots Napoleonic sets that could be made!! 😁

Although not an era im interested in,(wigs and massive dressing gown like coats make them more ready for Christmas Pantomime than battle in my opinion!!),
i would agree that the WoSS range is certainly some of the best work you have put out. The sculpting, moulding and overall manufacture have certainly put Strelets right at the top. It is a range you can rightly be proud of.

As for the ACW range, well yes they may of not been the best in terms of sculpt, mould etc, but its been a good range for showing your ideas in terms of poses and sets. So there is still positives you can take from that range Strelets.

So long as you put out some good quality and well thought out Napoleonics for the 100 days i will be happy!!
Add to that the "deserty" sets (im having trouble resisting the urge to buy the LRDG sets!!), and continuing the war of the "widow twankys" range, i think you will do just fine yet again this year.

Re: Question for Strelets

I haven't managed to get to your ACW figures yet - they have pushed a couple other projects back in the queue though and will probably be painted shortly. I appreciate your honesty in your disappointment with your ACW line, but as others have said, there are some great poses in there and I expect they will go well with the literally thousands of ACW figures I've collected and painted over the years and retire some others (like my Airfix ACW) as I did with your great Highlanders series.

At the same time, I have to agree with others more sets to compliment your previous sets. As John D. Rockefeller once said when a reporter once asked him with all his money how much more money did he need?

He paused for a moment with a twinkle in his eye, "Just a little more."

That's what I tell my wife when she asks me how many more "toy soldiers" I need.

Re: Question for Strelets

Still hoping on some ww2 desert Italians and some more ww1 sets

Re: Question for Strelets

Battle of Omdurman

I hope someday you'll continue your Boer War Range and add to it the Battle of Omdurman figures. You already have the British Artillery, and British Lancers, and some British Infantrymen. Some additional sets for Omdurman could be:

British Firing Lines with neck curtains on helmets, both nealing and standing
British Officers set including Kitchener

Sudenease in Anglo-Egyptian service
Egyptian in white uniforms with fez

Mahdists - Dervish wearing jibbah
Fuzzy-wuzzies riding camels
Dervish on horseback

These are a few that comes to mind. Strelets has done such a great job of producing so many RIF War and WWI Arab sets, they would surely do an outstanding job of Mahdist Wars opponents to continue on with the outstanding Boer War sets.

Re: Question for Strelets

I'm hoping that Strelets might revisit some of their Crimean War sets and bring them up to the same high standard as they did with the excellent new Boer War figures.

Russian infantry in standing poses like the recent Napoleonic sets would be reasonably quick to produce.......

I'd support this, Stuart. I could do with some decent Russian infantry to round off my Strelets Crimean armies, and a good set of standing infantry in either greatcoats or 'summer' uniform and assorted headgear would be very good.

Strelets did say a while ago that they have no intention to 'return to the Crimea' anytime soon. But surely there is a case for just one set of Russian soldiers in this case, and one that would sell well too. It is the biggest gap in the otherwise very good range of Crimean sets that Strelets have made.

Re: Question for Strelets

Hi
I’m having a hard time finding Strelets product in Canada? I have searched but have found limited sets. Where would you guys recommend for shopping?
Cheers
David

Re: Question for Strelets

Hi David,

I'm in Ontario. I get them from two suppliers - Hannants in the UK, and Scott's Model Workshop (user rebelalpha on ebay) in the USA. Trustworthy, reliable, reasonable shipping costs, but allow up to 3-4 weeks for delivery.

Re: Question for Strelets

Cool thank you. I’m in Ottawa, we have some amazing shops here but it’s getting hard to find 1/72 figures. I’m getting tired of going to the US for supplies.
Stay safe
David
