Re: 7yw set New ?

emodels have exactly the same description!!!

Re: 7yw set New ?

How Prussian (not even Russian) became soviet, it is rather peculiar isn't it??

Re: 7yw set New ?

They also have Crimean Soviet general staff...

Re: 7yw set New ?

Bizarre... must be a google thing...

Re: 7yw set New ?

Hi if you look at most Napoleonic Russian sets by Strelets that are available on Hannants website they are described as Soviet in the text despite being clearly marked as Russian on the box. .... Steve H

Re: 7yw set New ?

Your quite right but it applies to all kits not just figures with "Russian" including prussian in the title this has been changed to Soviet... a Virus maybe?

Soviet Napoleonics and much more

theres only 78 results for "russian" on the site for all products...

So be warned...

Re: 7yw set New ?

A bit OT but I wonder if Revell plan to re-release their ACW sets? Not that I'd buy them but they had some nice poses.

Re: 7yw set New ?

Revell could do with re issuing some of the Napoleonic sets too, namely the British infantry, artillery & rifles & the French guard chasseurs, non of these have been available for a while. Steve H

Let's hope so, I would be thrilled to ses the classic 30YW Swedish and Imperial infantry and cavalry sets again!

Re: 7yw set New ?

A lot of people would love to see the 30YW sets again.

I really want to get into that era, but I guess the ACTA sets will do for now, and I'll stay away from the Mars sets!

I have seen some nice work done with some of the Mars figures, and they have some good ideas, but sadly the overall quality and execution lets them down badly.

If you go down the ACTA route you might find Philip Haythornthwaite's book useful, as most of the figure poses are based on illustrations from it. It's worth it anyway, as an overall reference.

I'm looking at the Revell figures on PSR and really want them, so I sent Revell an email suggesting the sets to be reissued, doubt it will have any effect, but if more people write who knows? They rereleased some Napoleonic and 7 year war sets so now it's time for the 17th century!

Re: 7yw set New ?

Stephen if I may ask, are the ACTA ECW and 30YW sets the only decent sets for this period currently available? Do you use any metal ranges or perhaps sit on a hugh stock of Revell figures?

Also what's the name of the book by Haythorntwaite? He seems to have covered ECW but not 30YW?

Re: 7yw set New ?

Haythornthwaite's book is ECW - but I have no hesitation in reccommending Eduard Wagner's European Weapons and Warfare 1618-1648. It is available on Amazon - or it was a few months ago.

As for figures I tend to stick to plastic - simply because I prefer the proportions to metal figures. Show me a metal figure that is as finely moudled as an ACTA, a Revell or Zvezda and I would probably be interested. It's a bit of reverse snobbery on my part, I suppose, but I just prefer plastic figures.

As for sitting on a huge stock - well it's funny you should say that. I went looking for my figures and came up short. Looked everywhere, until a friend told me I had loaned him some cavalry, which he then returned. Sadly I don't have a massive reserve stock. I wish I did.

Re: 7yw set New ?

Steve, I may have some TYW figures left over once I've finished upgrading my old Revell army. Is there anything you particularly need?

Will

Re: 7yw set New ?

Yes sir - any you have going spare (I've just bought The Pikeman's Lament)

When is Gauntlet? I can call in and pick them up there.

Re: 7yw set New ?

Oooooh guess I missed Gauntlet!
