Buy the whole set and throw away everything except one sprue.

No- probably a maths question.

If an orange costs 16 pence and there are 8 segments how much will it cost to buy one segment?

Answer
16 pence- the other 7 segments and peel(and pips) are free.
or
for a Roman Veg Market

If an orange costs XVI pence and there are VIII segments how much will it cost to buy one segment?

Answer
XVI pence- the other VII segments and I peel(and pips) are free(gratis).
