3rd Generation Mallocks

While Charlie made his competition debut in our Rover hire car. Michael Mallock was driving my 1969 Formula Ford car to great effect in the prestigious Walter Hayes race at Silverstone. With a massive entry of 180 cars, Michael narrowly missed out on getting into the final primarly down to a significant lack of straight line speed, 7mph down measured on a speed gun compared to the ultra narrow pencil shaped cars. His speed through Copse and Luffield was awesome.
Meanwhile, Charlie was compeating at Barkston Heath in Lincolnshire over the twisty, interesting one minute track. Successfully running on wets, enjoying a tail slide over the finish line, ending up 4 seconds behind dad - Richard who had taken up Martin Covills kind offer to drive his 180hp Hyabusa powered Mk31. What Richard was most interested in was how the gearbox would perform. What a joy and revelation it was with the cable paddle-shift system, clutchless gear changes mid-corner and not having to take your hands off the wheel. Burnt quite a lot of rubber off the dry startline on wets but ended up getting FTD and a bottle! The weather was great too. Thanks Martin
