I'm currently running a car in the 750 formula that uses an English axle. I remember hearing that a popular clubmans mod is to replace the Ford cast iron diff nose carrier with a lightweight BMC carrier.
Does anyone have any more info on how I can make the same mod to my 750 car?
Huw, I think that the mod is to use BMC internals in the Ford housing as they're lighter and stronger, (i.e. better made), to save weight on a Ford diff you can get alloy Ford diff noses which were used in the Elans, although they're not cheap. Tony Thompson racing sells them.
Try to get in touch with Chris at CK Engineering in High Wycombe, he may be able to help.
Huw, I have machined BMC diff casings to fit English axle if that is the route you would like to go down. Click on the e-mail link and drop me a line if you would like more information.
