Now I know transponders are boring - but a required expense none the less....
Mine has not been the same since I 'crash tested' it at Oulton last year and has been surviving held together with race tape etc.... Just recently it also refused to hold charge for more than a few hours. TSL would happily provide a new one for damn near £400....gulp!
Fortunately a kart racer does a good rebuild job...mine has just come back, new battery and new case (looks like a new one) for £50. If you need him go to

Good info Sven. The transponders are a ridiculous price so worth knowing they can be repaired.
Used my repaired unit at Rockingham last weekend - it looks good as new and kept flashing 5 times throughout the meeting, so really as good as new!
