Check before you buy!!!!!! Please

This has been mentioned before, both on here and in Pipeline, but its well worth repeating.

If you see a Piper boat advertised, you're very welcome to check the pedigree with us. We should be able to look back into the history and confirm the details.

As an example, there's a boat currently being advertised as around 17 years newer than it actually is. There's no mention of the fact that it was built as a hire boat and in fact there's a claim that it was built in 8/6/4 thickness, when it fact it wasn't. We didn't build in those thicknesses back in the early 1970's. It's for sale by a reputable broker, who has obviously been told this rubbish and believed it. Its not an expensive boat and someone may well be happy to pay the asking price, but they should know the facts before making the decision.

Hopefully a buyer will check with us before they buy. Don't assume a surveyor will be aware of the boat's history, although if it's believed to be a Piper, they can and sometimes do check with us.

It's really no trouble and it keeps the records up to date, if only for interests sake.
