Could anyone please help with locating anyone or any documents, with information regarding the DeWitt brothers who came to (Bexar County)Texas from Maryland in the 1820-1840 range. Their names were Bartholomew J DeWitt and Blake DeWitt. Bartholomew is credited as the founder of San Angelo, Texas. I have checked census records from that time and it shows them to be brothers but it looks like they went their seperate ways later on. I am trying to find any information going back to Maryland showing what part or relatives from Maryland they may have. Thank you in advance for your help with this!
I can ask my cousin if her husbands family has any info. Her husbands name is Blake DeWitt, and she has told me that his family founded The Espada Mission here in San Antonio. His family has lots of historical significance, but I'm not too familiar with it. I'll contact her!
