Re: M023 - French Line Infantry on the March as British Crimean winter unit

Epaulettes need to be removed and the hat is too tall and wrong shape. The greatcoat usually had a shoulder cape. The French sometimes had overcoats similar to M023 if you look at Fenton's photos and Simpson's prints but again without the epaulettes.
The first winter basically saw the soldiers grabbing what they could so there were lots of variations using army blankets and locally purchased furs to supplement the normal issue.
