I wonder how much of a market there is for non military figure subjects?
Perhaps my favourite set from last year was Strelets Medieval Britain (the new figures), so I was considering what subjects might be of interest:
Neanderthals/Cave men(and women and children!) Perhaps with some hunting poses, but could make some nice dioramas.
Scenes from a Mal
General civilian shopping theme.
Riot Police to complement the above set.
Doctors, Nurses and Patients.
Dancing girls, eunochs, and a variety of "action" poses.
When we will be pulling out of business we will make a New Testament set.
This would be a great idea - why so late? Birth, Baptism, Sermon of the mountain; Process and Cruxifixion.....Connolly has done a very fine book about the time of Jesus with lots of historical information which has nothing to do with religious art.
these sets, along with the sets like Medieval Britain, command, etc. aren't profit making because of the low sales numbers. They can be done either if you mix them with other older sets that will pay for them, or if you want to leave a good memory about yourselves forgetting about profits.
It is indeed normal that these sell less as people don't need that many personalities. But for me they are among the best sets you've made. So if you need to add older or new sets to make them profitable, the please do.
BTW Napoleons general staff 2 is the only set on my list that I just can't get hold on. And te other sets are also difficult to find. I asked my dealer if that was on purpose, but he set that it was hard to get.
Napoleon's General Staff set no.2 is sold out and isn't available any more. I believe that some shops may still have it.
On the Kamrat site they are anouncing a few new BUM sets including a guillotine set, we could argue that tthis is a non military set although it tended to go along with civil unrest and military intervention. we should keep an eye on this et to see how well it sells.
