Welcome to the Strelets Forum. Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets. If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
I have been very pleased with HaT's AWI sets so far, but I do have two questions. 1. Why does the British cavalry set have only 9 horses for 15 riders? Bad day at the factory? 2. Why do the 28 mm American infantry come with no separate parts, whereas the smaller 1/72 American Infantry set has several bits that need to be glued on, and to soft plastic to boot. I am so happy to finally see AWI sets being added to the hobby, and the three upcoming Hessian sets look as though they will be great for the 7 Years War as well. I am hoping that they, and Strelets, will keep adding to this historic period, but 9 horses for 15 riders? Hmmm. Happy and safe holidays everyone.
Well, I just purchased 3 boxes of the AWI British Cavalry.....total of 45 riders and 27 horses. The sprue shown on the HaT website shows exactly what I received. The figure and horses are beautifully modeled...I love the horses in both the American and British sets. Really great set, but missing a few important components.
Not purchased the set, but Hat have done this before and it is about sprue space, the first set I remember being done this way was the Zulu war 17th lancers, more riders than horses, it does give choice and variety , and some figures for the spares box.
Thanks, I did not know that. They did give the American Cavalry a full sprue, with a horse for each rider. I have to say that all of their AWI series are beautifully scuplted, with lots of different figures in the infantry sets. I think that the British infantry are superb....I only wish that they had created separate sets of grenadiers, line company troops, and light infantry, instead of making fewer figures of each fit into one set. They appear to be offering three sets of Hessians coming up, with different troop types in larger numbers.
Between the Strelets, Red Box, and HaT 18th century British I have built a pretty nice collection, and even scored an Airfix Highlander set in original red, which will have to do for the Blackwatch in a war game. The good news is that the HaT AWI British cavalry sit well on any of the various 18th century horses from the many different sets, so they will not be sitting on the sidelines{:-))
