Thank you, Strelets, for your reply. You are, of course, correct that for you (i.e., in Europe) the main factions were Prussia and Austria. I understand you don't want to venture into an endless area — at least not until you finish your current production lines. May I suggest that only two sets would be needed for the French and Indian war, that is, you could produce them (if you want to) after you finish your current production lines or later. If you combine the Highlanders with British regulars (I suggest they come in red), that's all that would be needed for the English side, and if you made a French set (either blue or white works for their uniform colors), then all you would need to do is make 2 sets. You wouldn't have to make Indians because BUM has already provided them but you could always throw them in with the French set (as they worked together). That way, it would only require 2 sets to make, not endless sets. But no pressure. I hope you consider my idea, as no sets cover the English or French sides currently for the 7 years' War. Imagine a Colonel George Washington (for example) as the one officer for the English set. It would be fun for wargamers.

We also believe that 7YW deserves better coverage, more or less in line with what we're doing right now with WSS. We have a new sculptor who is working on WSS subject (you could see his works recently on this forum) and, all going well, he will pick things well enough to eventually dive into 7YW as well. The period is quite difficult for sculpting with all that abundance of minor details but we hope to eventually cope with that and switch over to subjects apart from WSS.

As I understand it the BUM sets were limited run, very fragile, and I found them essentially impossible to get here in the USA. While I would not be that interested in European sets, American French and Indian War sets I would buy.

Of course Early War Americans still need US Navy in the Philippines where thy formed a Naval Infantry Battalion that saw combat, a small boat squadron that did coastal patrolling and saw combat, Coast Artillery that saw lots of combat, and perhaps a personalities set with Philippine Army, US Army and other military and civilian persons.

Of course the Philippine Army made up the bulk of the American forces and that includes the Philippine Scouts who actually had M1 rifles.

The Bum sets are so rare that it would be much appreciated if Strelets made F&IW Indians!

I wouldn’t mind seeing either this or the AWI covered in the future. Two great subjects of the century. I’m with Strelets however in wanting to finish the WSS range first. It’s dedicated coverage is part of what makes that line of miniatures so great to collect and model.

The AWI is now being quickly covered by HAT, so it would be pointless for Strelets to enter into that field at this time.

There are still so many Napoleonic subjects that haven't been touched including mainstream sets like Austrian Hussars or late war Prussian Cuirassiers, and I'm sure WSS sets as well for those who follow that period.

I might be wrong but I'd venture that there would be more commercial viability in untouched or even duplicated European subjects than minor North American combatants, but of course everyone has their own model soldiers dreams to be fulfilled.

I'd be very very happy for a set of Haitian rebels/Maroons for late revolutionary/early Napoleonic, but don't see them ever eventuating.

Concordo che dei set di guerrieri irochesi ed alconchini per la guerra franco indiana sarebbero anche da me molto apprezzati, inoltre anche dei bei rangers e dei miliziani canadesi prodotti con la solita precisione di strelets sarebbero molto graditi.

È tutto molto bello e per ogni periodo ci potrebbero essere dei set nuovi per strelets da realizzare.... Io insisto che per me sarebbe già bello per il periodo napoleonico vedere completare nelle pose di riposo / sugli attenti / armi in spalla / marcia / all' attacco / tiro / quadrato / scaramuccia per i set francesi di linea e granatieri dove mancano ma anche per prussiani BRUNSWICK NASSAU HANNOVER BELGI OLANDESI e russi austriaci spagnoli e portoghesi.... E set di cavalleria inglese in pose originali come solo strelets e linear A saprebbero fare..... Poi citando il primo set strelets il famoso 001 orgoglioso di averne qualche scatola.... Vedere qualcosa di simile per gli altri contingenti presenti a waterloo sarebbe veramente originale! Cmq strelets voi fate come volete noi saremo sempre qui a sognare e appena set pronti ad acquistarne !

I get where you’re coming from Danny, in the sense that the Napoleonic Wars were nearly two decades long and as such had a tremendous amount of units and nations involved with countless uniforms being worn. If Napoleonics is the primary era you collect as well then you’ll especially want better coverage. But to say it’d be pointless to cover the AWI because HaT currently is, is like saying it’d be pointless to cover the Napoleonic Wars because HaT already is/has. Hat makes a good product but they only ever cover the basics. Their AWI range is good start, but there is so much missing. Almost every campaign had unique uniforms involved no where else in the war. If you ever get the chance take a look at Don Troiani’s soldier study series on paintings on the war. You’ll see just what I mean. I think to cover it properly would be a very daunting task. But anyways, I’m always happy to keep working on current projects. I’m very happy with the current production rate Strelets has had recently.

That's a fair point you make about a lot of the non regular, Tory and militia units with alternate dress for AWI.

I have no objection to any new set and sets of the above would be very interesting.

Commercially though some of the yet to be produced mainstream subjects for both Napoleonic and WSS may be better for a quicker financial return to help keep our generous host in business, and our hobby dreams alive.

I’m completely with you there Danny. I collect both Napoleonics and WSS and between those alone my hands and time are full. I’d rather Strelets see these topics through first before embarking on another large project. And as you said, at the end of the day we need the company to do what’s best for themselves financially.
