Welcome to the Strelets Forum. Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets. If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
That is what I’m trying to decipher as well Marco. A rear view of the cap would answer that question, but if we’re to go off the previous grenadiers shown as well then I’d say that thay’re Austrian. I also haven’t been able to find a single source on what the Prussian Grenadiers looked like though. Either way this set is shaping up nicely Strelets. I very much look forward to having this one in the future! Thank you
There is an excellent chapter on the Prussian army in the Great Northern War Compendium, but if you do not have that look no further than the fabulous Kronoskaf website:
The Kronoskaf website is a great source I would agree James. When I’ve looked previously though, they don’t have any illustrations of the Prussian mitre caps just some descriptions. I was wondering if these could be used for both, because I would agree these are definitely Austrians based off the illustrations I’ve found.
Örjan Martinsson has pictures on his Tacitus.nu website, based on info. from Höglund ("The Great Northern War 1700–1721 Colours and Uniforms") and Summerfield (who wrote the chapter in vol. 2 of "The Great Northern War Compendium").
There are some images on the Kronoskaf website, if you click on specific units.
Thank you James, I was actually completely unaware of the Tacitus website. After checking it out they have some really good stuff, including Prussian grenadier plates so that’s a big win for me.
