Re: Anubis

Dear Mike,

These Dark Alliance figures are beaut aren't they?

I resisted the impulse to get them for years and then weakened the other week, chiefly as I realised that they were becoming a little difficult to find. Picked up the five that I was after to allow some mythical battles with ancient forces, plus some characters/creatures in a gladiatorial arena:
Anubis' Army, Centaurs, Minotaurs, Mummies, Cyclopes.
They are beautifully sculpted figures with excellent detail. There is a little bit of flash—always hate flash—but it is easy to remove.

Their Amazons are fantastic too! I have them as part of my Scythian/Parthian forces.

Regards, James

Re: Anubis

They are very nice. I got the Amazon sets, for use with Wonder Woman super hero. I also got the Mummies too.

Re: Anubis

Yeah very nice sets. Though as the PSR review says Anubite warriors seem to be a Hollywood invention that possibly can be traced to the aforementioned Mummy movies of the late 90s/early 2000s, it is easy to imagine Pharaohs like Thutmose IV and Rameses III appreciating something akin to them (there is a lot about Egyptian mythology we still do not know). The twist is in Egyptian mythology the Anubites would have definitely been considered part of the "good guys," protecting the citizens of Kmt from outside threats (Libu, Shasu, Sea Peoples, etc.).

Going off the historical path completely, I think if someone wanted to do a more Warhammer-esque matchup like Napoleon's forces against the ancient Egyptians, the ethereal nature of the Anubites arguably gives them gunpowder resistance in my humble opinion. But that is obviously subjective and up to what our creative brains come up with.

Still More Anubis

I think their helmets and chest armor should be at least proof against handguns, and submachine guns and proof against long guns at extended range, maybe over 250m.

That allows the warriors to get in close before they are vulnerable.

Makes sense to me.

Zamboni

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/02/zamboni.html

A Zamboni is a vehicle that shaves the surface of ice for ice rinks. They have been around since Mr. Zamboni invented them just after WWII.; according to Wiki.
It's one of those things that I don't feel I need a big fleet of them, and I have no intentions at this time to make an ice rink, but I do have the Caesar Miniatures basketball players and a basketball stadium would make an okay ice rink without too much work, so maybe that will happen sometime in late 2037?
What figures would work for ice hockey players?

Haron Vietnam

https://bunkermeister.blogspot.com/2025/02/us-army-infantry-vietnam.html

An excellent set of 1/72nd scale plastic US Army Infantry in Vietnam. Unlike the Pegasus set which is US Marines, and the Esci / Italeri set which is Special Forces these are standard Infantry. They are heavily laden with gear and are obviously on patrol.

A great set for the Mid-1960s. I suspect the US troops in any hot climate in combat would look very much like these guys almost anytime between about 1965 to about 1980.

Re: Anubis

Heck, I just figured to pit them, & the Mummies, against my vast Egyptian armt or perhaps against Rgypt's enemy's of the period. Maybe Macedonians Or Romans as well.

I love all the Fantasy sets! Just wish RedBox, or somebody else, would continue the line. So many more sets I'd love to see.
