Re: Strelets Roman Velites Archers & Marching Fort (& Super Glue)
Cheers Mike!
Another topic, regarding your Super Glue thread below, I am making a modest army in hard plastic, and I've discovered a "Liquid" Super Glue, which will drip down into all cracks and crevasses. I do paint over it once dried as it dries very dull and semi clear. This is nothing like the Gel. Personally, I've never found a glue that truly works with soft plastic. It is only minimally adhesive. For soft plastic, I cut a "peg" of the same semi-soft plastic, and push it into my hand twist drilled small holes. You know, the old square peg into a round hole fits tight and really holds. Hope these comments can help. Link:
nHeptane which is used as a rubber cement thinner, and sold in artists stores will work as an activator and helps the super glue hold onto the soft plastic. It's the same stuff Loctite uses on their super glue that comes with the little bottle of activator, only buying in bulk, a couple ounces, is much cheaper.
I pin the figures using #8 guitar string. Very strong, very cheap, and one string lasts for a long time. Perfect for head swaps. Push one end of the string into the body of the figure, cute the guitar string (wire) about 3mm long and then coat with gap filling super glue. Push the head onto the pin / neck. Works very well.
