Re: American Spanish War and Mexican Revolution

I suspect there is a reason that sombrero`s have not been done in 1/72, probably a two part mould issue, they are certainly another gap.

Re: American Spanish War and Mexican Revolution

Spanish-American War - Yes, yes, yes!

Separate sombrero hats - Britains Swoppet style - and figures with the peg on top of their heads are technically very do-able with a 2-piece mould. Britains did this with their AWI figures, and HaT did this in 1/72 with their 7YW Prussian Inf, March, and Com sets, and with 3 styles of hats/helmets and they fit super well, too. I got some just to have. Could work instead of complete head-swops for other sets, too.

Re: American Spanish War and Mexican Revolution

I asked HaT for years for Mexican Revolution:

When Italieri years ago asked on facebook, most voted was Mexican revolutionaries.

No answer from both companies since years.

I really REALLY wish Strelets develop Mexican Revolutionaries and US Army/Rough Riders.

Re: American Spanis war

meatsy
would be nice to have a set representing one of the best best leaders of the free world. statesman,hunter/environmentalist, leader, believer in the common good and people.
I have to mention that I believe he was responsible for the greatest contribution the USA ever made to the world; the creation of National Parks!

The Spanish American War is a very interesting subject, i was kind of hooked on the idea when I saw some conversions done by one of the guys at another place.

A set of Rough Riders would be a great start and, as I said here once before, if there's a figure of Teddy Roosevelt charging up San Juan Hill I'd be sorely tempted to buy it. If there's a bonus figure of Teddy Brewster charging up the stairs I'm definitely buying it!

bonus figure

If Strelets made a Rough Rider set, the bonus figure could be a Teddy Bear.

Re: American Spanis war

Ooof, must we go this direction? As an American citizen that wants to be as post-colonial as possible this topic is, umm, quite uncomfortable. Much safer to talk about the glory of Marduk and the Old Babylonian Empire!

Re: Spanish-American War

I hope Strelets seriously considers making several sets for the S-A War. The Americans on foot, with the big blanket roll and stetsons, would look great and be appropriate for Cuba, the Philippines, the Boxer Rebellion and more.

The Spanish soldiers had many great looking Colonial Era uniforms, as well as Cubans and Philippinos.

The BUM figures sculpting was nice, but the worst quality plastic - they just fell apart with the slightest bending - not good soft plastic. Too bad. Unfortunately Caesar never responded to my e-mails with an affirmative nor negative. Everything would be in gray color anyway.

A Strelets Spanish-American Range along the lines of the Boer War Range and FFL Range (RIF sets) would be great. My fingers crossed, Strelets! :earth_americas: :earth_asia:
