Desert Italians WW2

As this seems to be a subject that many of us would like to see, as I see it the needs are Italian infantry , field artillery with 75mm guns , heavy weapons ie mortars machine guns , Maharisti (Lybians in Italian service) with or without camels. Italian anti tank guns (the Waterloo one`s point to the sky and the crews are wooden). I am not of the view the Italians were scruffy while fighting, once captured they certainly had that look but not while facing the enemy. On the subject I would still like to see a couple of prone guys for the LRDG on road watch, one with binoculars and the other taking notes, and of course crews for the trucks and jeeps.

Re: Desert Italians WW2

Yes please. Libyans in the service of Italian Army. Recently I watched an Italian newsreel of the time and maharisti on camels were impressive. As always gentle reminder re Vichy troops in North Africa. This North African campaign is fascinating from the diverse combatants' perspective.

Re: Desert Italians WW2

Yes I would agree with all of Alan`s suggestions for Italian forces.
Some Vichy French and French Colonial Troops would also be good.

Re: Desert Italians WW2

Hi Alan,

I thank you for supporting my dream, as I thank all the members and hobbists of this forum who would be interested in the subject.

Cheers and stay safe!

Neutral Vichy French forces would have a wide potential as they seemed to be in conflict against the allies (and other forces including the Thais) in so many operational theatres not just North Africa.
