Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

Hi Guys

i was thinking about the firing line sets we need for our armies and thought i would ask everyone for a YES / NO answer.

If we keep the post simple and then hopefully Strelets can gauge our Interest in these figures and hopefully produce them.

My answer is a big

Yes

Excellent idea.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

Yes please soon as possible great idea.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

YES, but please no kneeling figures.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

A YES from me too.

Napoleonic infantrymen would have spent more time standing around than Firing, but ultimately what is the point of lugging a musket around if it doesn't get pointed at the enemy from time to time!

Firing lines definitely required.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

YES!
However, contrary to Mr Schmitt, I wouls also want kneeling shooters, especially for the lights.

Yes kneeling figures are needed to a certain extent to represent a more defensive role, squares etc. These could be in a seperate "in defence" set range rather than firing lines if so wanted but kneeling figures do play their part. In fact trying to recreate Napoleonic squares, especially for Waterloo, without kneeling figures is kind of difficult!!!

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

si e anche fanterie e cavallerie di corsa e artigieria sotto attacco

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

YES! Absolutely! For all the armies. Kneeling figures are great for light infantry/jaeger(especially the Russians).

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

It's a no from me - much prefer and advancing pose or standing at the ready.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

Another NO , I prefer March Attack.

Re: Firing Lines for Napoleonic Sets

"Advancing", "At the ready" and "March Attack" should still be produced.
The Firing sets would work alongside the other sets, they shouldnt be "instead of".
In fact at the ready could be part of a defensive range.
As someome doing Waterloo i could indeed use "at the ready" poses, standing and kneeling, especially for the allies.

Agreed. 'At the Ready'; and 'March attack' are the preferred poses of wargamers since those poses look 'right' for formed units. I remember well being introduced to these poses when I first came across Minifig 25mm Napoleonics in the late 1970s...and wondering why Airfix didn't produce them!

However: Whereas 'At the ready' has its merits for infantry in a defensive posture, there is nothing more upsetting (:upside_down_face: ) than seeing squares formed of troops in 'march attack' mode, let alone skirmish lines.

Firing lines please...and the others for massed columns on the move as well.

Exactly 👍
