Welcome to the Strelets Forum.
Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets.
If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
It seems the person below just hit a bug in the registration process since he says he's never posted anything on that forum so not a proper ban.
But in general terms people can be banned for things like racist attacks on other forum members; very rare but it can happen and I think most of the forums we visit have a zero tolerance policy for that kind of thing.
There has to be a bit of common sense applied here though, we are after all dealing with figures that represent Nations fighting and killing each other and it's only natural that many of us have a particular jingoistic preference for our own Country's part in those wars. If I say I'm not bothered about marching Napoleonic Highlanders I'd rather have Highlanders who are actually shooting at Frenchmen It doesn't mean I want to shoot any of my French friends on this or the other forums and I hope they won't take offence any more than I will if they ask for French figures shooting Rosbifs (and yes, I do think it's OK for them to call me that). I think were all grown up enough (just) to know that those wars are over and were all friends now.
Personal abuse of other posters might also attract a ban. Again a bit of common sense, we're dealing with international politics over long periods of time, we're going to disagree about things. That's OK just remember that the common things that bring us together here as friends are more important than any differences of opinions we might have.
Most of the forums have rules of conduct e.g. not using the forum for political debate; constant disregard for the forum rules or failing to comply with the Mods reasonable requests might earn a ban, fair enough.
The forum mentioned in the thread below has guidelines regarding commercial companies using the forum to advertise their products, failure to follow the guidelines after several friendly reminders might result in their registration being cancelled.
With regard to the Strelets forum I imagine that William Smith gets banned ten times a week and I think that's fine, his posts seem to me to be nothing more than bait for a physhing scam.
Bans are for those who don't respect the forum hosts or the forum rules or the other forum members which is fair enough but you are right, it's only little plastic soldiers, it shouldn't be so serious that we get banned from a forum. Also, I think it's important not to be too quick to take offence; some of us are Yorkshiremen and we call a spade a bloody shovel. We don't mean to cause offence it just happens, can't be helped, comes wi' t' puddings.:relaxed:
p.s. I've never been banned from a forum but I did once have a post on another forum deleted by the forum mods; I did mention the poetry of William McGonagal in the post so I really can't complain. (CAUTION: Don't Google that. No seriously! Just don't).
contributors who practice cannibalism, who like cats or indulge in other monstrosities in their private lives.
Now there you have it that comment about cats would get you banned for at least one site I know.
To disagree about the figures what weapons they have (sten guns pikes and PIAT ) uniforms etc. lf figures are toy soldiers or works of art. Are all par for the course and normally things do not get out of hand. Now the problem with wargaming with some people can say and believe the following. All heard at the wargaming table and they meant it. They can not rout they are British. I killed two of them and they are ???????? so the rest should run away. No way a Sherman tank cannot destroy a Tiger tank. 88mm can never miss. And history the better army lost.???? There were no French troops in the French foreign legion ever! And one I had with somebody who proudly put his Harlem Hellcats on the table all painted and in WW1 American uniforms with the rest of his Americans ready for battle.
History answers. Nearly all officers were French in the French Foreign Legion. The Harlem Hellcats fought under French command and in French uniforms.
Banning, should be reserved for those who`s purpose is not the subject matter in point, but trying to provoke others by comments or actions they are confident will provoke. They serve no purpose and are no use to anyone.
African American, American Uniforms, French equipment/weapons/helmets though sometimes are shown wearing brodies, they are often shown training with French colonial Troops who wore the French Colonial Uniform.... They fought alongside the French..
See: Scotts Official History
The US Greatcoat should have been issued from the start but it wouldn't suprise me if clothing was supplemented from french supplies, the first thing to go would likely be the gaiters, most armys change dramatically in combat and the French themselves gave a wide leeway as to what was worn in the trenches in anycase so theres no absolute right and wrong... on parade is a different matter.
I admin about 40 groups on Facebook most are toy soldier or warfare related. One on WWII German Heavy Tanks has over 18,000 members. It also draws more wackos than all my other groups combined.
They say the most offensive and foolish and typically false things that you cannot even imagine. We, my moderators and I, have banned and blocked over 1,000 people. The biggest problem is they won't stay on topic and want to talk WWII politics, or disparage other tanks or soliders.
We are very clear about the rules and have them posted in several places. Most get one or two strikes and they are out. Potentially every comment is read by 18,000 people who are following the rules.
This is one of the best groups I have ever been on and read it nearly every day.
