Re: Nice week-end!

Wow, nice surprise! Sure hope to see FFL in your nice blue colour like your first ones. And the WWII Desert action is heating up also. Thank you - GC

Re: Nice week-end!

These British desert special forces! Looking forward to!!! Erwin, beware...

Re: Nice week-end!

Wow, what a pair of figures, and the FFL look good too.

Re: Nice week-end!

That "hand to hand" pose is fantastic!! Suits the subject perfectly.

Any chance such active, direct contact fighting poses could be made for the Napoleonic era? La Haye Sainte and Hougoumont could use some poses like that when trying to defend against the French & vice versa with the French trying to gain the farms.

Soldiers actually bayonetting an enemy is another good pose not done. These kind of out of the ordinary poses bring life to dioramas and id say you certainly capture the idea with masters like that above. 👍

Re: Nice week-end!

Further excellent sculpts, and once again the 'hand-to'hand' special forces pairing is a surprise 'extra' - well, I'm assuming that we won't have four of these pairs in a box? I'm pretty sure that this is the prescribed 'grab and stab your target' move from the British Commando manual. The German's large magazine pouch might yet protect him, but who knows...a very dramatic piece of sculpting in miniature.

As Roger has suggested, why not fighting duos for other periods as well?. Duelling WoSS officers, grappling grenadiers, tussling troopers, etc? And, for the Napoleonic period, I'd support Strelets making some animated figures - British Guards, French Infantry and sappeurs, including a larger-than-life Frenchman wielding an axe - to model the desperate fighting around the gate at Hougoumont for one of the most famous episodes at the Battle of Waterloo? A similar set(s) could be made for the fighting at the Shevardino Redoubt at Borodino.....

I also very much like the FFL rifles and bayonets, which look just right. If they come out from the mould looking like this then they will be a near perfect representation of this long and slender weapon.

Have a good weekend!

Re: Nice week-end!

While a great pair of figures, probably not text book, the German can make lots of noise at this point, from memory and I stand to be corrected, but taking the enemy from behind , is one hand over the mouth and stab through the throat and slice out away from you, from the front through the ribs to the heart. But close enough for me,these guys are making my Friday`s even better than usual, well done Strelets.

Goodness, you are a 'more dangerous' fellow than I had realised, Mr B!:slightly_smiling_face:

Have a good weekend.

Re: Nice week-end!

Well Alan

Thats my lunch in the bin now lol, However I have to admit its a great pose and will be great for raids on the airfield and hidden fuel dumps in the desert. It looks like a pose right out of my commando comics as a child

Nice to see you are seeing your contributions on this forum coming to reality I wonder if you could mention a few Napoleonic gun crews in your next post lol

Re: Nice week-end!

Nice figures, but nothing of interest for me.
It seems that I will spend my money for other sets and activities.

Have a nice week.end, very hot and sandy

Sansovino,

We share an interest in soldiers with more colourful uniforms in cooler climates, who would face each other on the battlefield in ranks rather than creeping up on them with knives and towels wrapped around their heads.

I'm sure our time will come again and that Strelets will be showing some more good figures in tricorne hats some time....although actually what I would like Mr Buckingham to ask for is some dismounted (and mounted) French dragoons circa 1704, wearing their distinctive stocking caps.

Come to think of it, that headgear is not too different from that desert stuff....!??

Re: Nice week-end!

Dear Minuteman,

thank you for your friendly bridge-building, but I presume that Strelets has lost any interest for WSS.

Eventually some critics on some sets have discouraged them to dare further sets to this range. We can hope only that the soldes persuades them soon to change their mind - especially since there are hardly any affordable vehicle-models left on the market for theirs LRDG´s.

But there are still so many other periods and themes left, which Strelets can fill with new figures.... and I love really shakos and tricornes

Sansovino,

I am optimistically looking forward to WoSS cavalry sets - English and French - from Strelets. Beyond that, I am not sure.

However, the next 'big' tricorne period for Strelets must, surely, be the 1740s-50s-60s. War of Austrian Succession and, in particular, the Seven Years War.!!

A lot more sets with tricornes I hope...

I dont think Strelets has given up on the WSS, i think they are just doing their best to cater for all eras and therefore all potential customers.

Its the turn of more modern conflicts currently, but sooner or later other eras will have their turn again....WWS included i imagine.

Allan , I am delighted with what Strelets have shown us thus far, I hope there is more to come including vehicle crews (seated figures particularly) . I would be happy to oblige with your request only I don`t want to push my luck...:innocent: , particularly as I have other North Africa requests in and would like to see them come to fruition too. ps sorry about your lunch.

Re: Nice week-end!

In relation to the double figure revealed today I feel that this is a great example of the sculptor's skill and artform. This proves that Strelets are leading the way with not only fascinating subject matter but unique poses that actually tell a story. We can only imagine what figures are yet to be revealed in the near future.

No matter what the period is I always look forward to the creation of your master figures and the thought that goes into their composition. With all these tempting images over recent weeks and months, one question though, (without putting too much pressure on the good people at Strelets) - When can we expect the LRDG and the new Foreign Legion sets to be released ? We are eagerly awaiting these absolute gems ...

Re: Nice week-end!

Excellent!

I hope the FFL will be escorting/guarding a mule train set! lol

And is the hand-to-hand LRDG vs DAK a bonus figure or in a mixed "combat" set?

I'm also wondering whether a mixed 'combat' set might feature a beefy DAK soldier head-butting an SAS chap...caught by surprise while drinking tea perhaps....??

That would fall in to the category of no use in the desert...to me at least:laughing:

Indeed, would be of limited use, but a first nonetheless in 1/72. Maybe a bit too 'Indiana Jones'.... DAK Heavy Weapons squad definitely more useful....

Re: Nice week-end!

Great to see more FFL after the artillery ones. Hopefully we see mules, mounted legionaires and some carts. That will be the full picture. And the icing on the cake will be Spanish soldiers for RIF War.

Re: Nice week-end!

Very interesting figures especially the French. Like the way they are crouched down trying not to get shot at! The idea of mules that has been put forward certainly has milage for many conflicts they were the essential form of transport. Personally I always fancied a mountain gun set which could be transported by mules. Not sure how that would pan out but it would be a great set!

Could do with more colonial French but of a slightly later period say the 1940-42 period for North Africa, Lavant, Madagascar and Indo China (too much too ask for Thai troops?) as they did seem to be in conflict with almost everybody except the third Reich.
