More War of the Spanish Succession

Dear Stretlets,

I have been collecting your sets for decades now, in the face of those who criticized them as too chunky, not molded well, and etc. I have always loved their very unique, signature style. Am I trying to butter you up? Absolutely. I finally received the last two issues of the WSS French and the detail on those guys is fantastic. Your sculptor(s) is to be praised.....so why stop there. PLEASE turn them loose on the Maisson du Roi, artillery, and anything else that remotely interests you about that period. Civilians of the 18th century would be great as well, of all classes. You have struck a note with those of us who are passionate about the 16th-18th centuries and have been starved for new sets, for games, dioramas, and collecting. Both you and Red Box have been life savers. Thanks for pursuing these periods. I eagerly await when I can buy both French pikemen and British cavalry, and will buy anything else that you produce from this period.

Thanks!!

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

I totally agree with Chris ... it would been very sad for some of us, if the new WSS range will find a sudden end....

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

yes in total agreement with previous comments, the sculpting of WSS figures are brilliant, and i eagerly await release of Pikemen and British cavalry (masters look fantastic), I too have collected many sets from Strelets that have expanded my wargaming armies like Crimean and GNW series (loved Charles XII on litter)please keep up the great work on WSS and i hope to see more and more sets being made

cheers Old John

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

Yep, what they said!

Not been this enthusiastic about a period/range of figures for a while. yes sets pop up and i think 'have to have them!', but this late 17c/early 18thC WSS range is just so nice.

Work your guys harder, work them smarter, work them faster, just do it!

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

My agreement with all of these posts, and all previous ones along the lines of....More WoSS sets please!! This is an excellent range and can only get bigger and better.

My request has a caveat: Please ensure that all sets are historically-accurate, and maintain the excellent sculpting of the figures in this range to date. Hopefully also, future sets will continue to be released at a regular (and fairly brisk) pace.

Very much looking forward to the release of the British and (perhaps) French Maison du Roi cavalry soon.

And after that: some French Line cavalry and French dragoons. Perhaps some infantry with flintlock 'fusils', large cartridge pouches and brimmed-brimmed hats: these would then be good for Dutch/Danish and others, including early war French; and would provide a pre-WoSS (late 1600s) set as companions for the pre-WoSS French Pikemen….so allowing those who want to create armies for the 1690s.

Perhaps...Artillery and Bavarian cuirassiers??

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

Well said Chris; I have little to add except, as a dioramatist (new word?), I would love lots more civilians. Either helping; obstructing; cheering or just getting on with their lives.

….And, perhaps forming a useful addition to the WoSS 'Transport' (Carts) and 'Camp' (soldiers at ease, camp followers, servants, a tent or two, barrels etc) sets which hopefully Strelets will consider as well.

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

I agree with all the above suggestions for more French, BRitish, civilians, artillery, carts etc. and I would humbly add: soldiers from other nations involved in the conflict. Please let us have all the pieces of the jigsaw and then let the fun & shopping increase.

Re: More War of the Spanish Succession

Great suggestions from all posters for more WSS sets, it is indeed a very colourful period and so many scenarios to game. If i may suggest that as the series is for WSS we need Spanish troops of all types plus Catalonians and Portuguese!!!

as WSS also known as 1st Penisular War

any one recall the sets by BUM/GerMan from some years back, good ideas but terrible material they used for the figures, so brittle

"No Peace without Spain" to quote slogan used at the time

cheers Old John
