I went to see. It's a film starring Sam Peckinpah, Charlton Heston, Richard Harris, Jim Hutton, Michael Anderson Jr., James Coburn, Warren Oates, Mario Adorf, Ben Johnson, ..... On the other hand, I will not try to reproduce a single scene from the film. because if on the side of Uncle Sam's units the uniforms are correct, on the French side they are operetta uniforms quite in a Holliwoodian representation. In other words, totally false. If we add a fact of arms that did not exist. It's a movie just for fun.
On the other hand, I would like to reproduce the siege of Puebla and/or the assault on Fort San Javier and/or the convent of Guadalupita. Moreover, it is a conflict never dealt with and with a certain exoticism.
Remember a 1970 Spag Western with Yul Brynner, "Adios, Sabata" - where he plots to steal a cash of gold from the Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico that is guarded by Austrian troops in his employ.
Just watched You - Tube trailer - Austrian uniforms look pretty good - a la 1866 Austro-Prussian War - white coats, grey-blue pants, etc.
Thanks Pedro for the information. It is good that there is interest in this Mexican European conflict. Those who are interested should show their support. For instance I dream of having the Fench Foreign Legion & Mexican Republican forces to re-enact the battle of Camaron.
