Re: Make one box suggestions for Strelets any sense?

EWM are definitely not 1/76 and neither are they 20mm. Their styling is a little chunkier than most plastics, but they provide some great stuff, including for less well-known WW2 forces.

WW2 is probably a perennial 'best seller' compared with other historical periods. If I were trying to choose a single (or a very few) set(s) to be best sellers, I'd go for allied tank and vehicle crews/drivers, perhaps also artillerymen out of the firing line. There are more than enough sets of these catering for German forces, but relatively few for the allies, and those that are out there are mainly US army. Such figures would appeal as much to modellers (including vehicle modellers) and creators of dioramas as to wargamers, so would touch all of the market.

Re: Make one box suggestions for Strelets any sense?

Austro-Prussian Napoleonic Civilian Highlanders for the desert (with optional pikes and breastplates) would seem to cover most of the bases............

Re: Make one box suggestions for Strelets any sense?

I see what you are saying and to some degree agree with your sentiment but these loons and the sets they dream of seeing are the life blood of forums such as this - for every ten ridiculous suggestions there might be one light bulb moment for the manufacturer and that one loon will see his dream realised. At the moment Strelets ( who after all began on the premise of making teh sets that no-one else did) is probably the best place to see those dreams realised so they flock here in their... well their tens is probably being generous but you get the idea - Let the dreaming continue (in moderation)

Make one to sell many

I wonder if it's more useful to look at individual sets as part of a number covering a single period or subject?

Thus, you may have a single subject covered by 3 sets of Napoleonic Prussian infantry, a couple of Prussian cavalry sets, a Prussian artillery set & a box with Blucher & other commanders in it.

Now, as a person who is interested in Napoleonic gaming & specifically wanting a Prussian army, I may well buy 10 infantry boxes, 6 cavalry, 4 artillery & only one commanders' set. However, if Strelets didn't make the last box, conceivably I might buy none at all as the completeness of their coverage creates helps my interest. With no commanders available, I might say, "Forget Strelets" & buy a complete range of metal figures that covers the entire subject.

I think Strelets would be wise to look beyond simple sales' numbers to the overall picture.

Re: Make one to sell many

I would like to see a dismounted British cavalry set where the figures are stood at the side of their horses waiting for the call into action.
Any regiment would do but the scots greys would be preferred & probably be the biggest seller.
If its popular you could release other nations as well. Please leave the french til last as i have already made my own thanks to Airfix & esci.

Re: Make one to sell many

Agree with what Mr.Graeme, Mr. Paint Dog and other gentlemen said. Too many Ww2 Germans and Napoleonics on the market, I personally appreciate more a set which is original and which doesn't cover subjects that have already been too much taken into consideration by other producers.

Re: Make one to sell many

Interesting thread...

What about split sets? For example RMLI for WW1 and Royal Marines Commandos for WW2 - say 10 poses for each?

I think there could be a number of topics and eras that this concept might work with

"Too many Ww2 Germans and Napoleonics on the market"

I agree on WW2 because I don't care  . As for Napoleonics, I disagree. Yes, too many of the same. But - just a handful - asked for what remains overdue - since decades - **** on it!

Hey, I think I'm good enough to make them myself using existant sets. So .... farewell and have a nice day - week - month - year - lifetime - whatever .... :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Make one to sell many

Dark age Picts. Don't know if many people would be interested but they are one of the peoples who look different to the usual dark age warrior most of whom can be reasonably represented by Viking or Anglo-Saxon figures.

Re: Make one to sell many

Always need more Naps

And if the French camp was the number one best seller, maybe Strelets should make similar camps for other nations...

Re: Make one to sell many

I think that's a great idea. I bought at least three sets (I think I have a fourth somewhere waiting for the brush) just for the tents and accessories. Of course the figures in camp and repose - a rarity - are valuable to me to create scenarios of rear areas. To recreate a similar set(s) for other armies - particularly with the new sculpting style would be a great thing.
