Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

Wonderful, thank you Strelets! Please, stay safe and if possible go on producing your masterpieces.

Best regards,

Alessandro

Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

Great news! Don't do the Italian or Eastern fronts myself, so A/H troops a bit redundant. But there is such interest in this period, I would have thought there is significant scope for more figures:

1. Early war BEF kilted Scots and Highland Light Infantry;

2. Early war French Zouaves, Tirailleurs, Chasseurs and Spahis;

3. French, British, and Belgian colonial;

4. 'Colonial' artillery (including guns from the Emden used by von Lettow-Vorbeck);

5. Portuguese;

6. ANZACS, Brits, French, and Turks for Gallipoli;

7. Royal Naval Division;

8. Mexican Revolutionaries (Pershing 1916 expedition).

Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

wow thats a great call what a list love it dont forget us troops for 1916 pershing expedition can only dream

Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

Agree with both of you!

What about some Romanians too? We won't refuse all these sets 🙂

"8. Mexican Revolutionaries (Pershing 1916 expedition)."

Richard, in case Strelets won't produce them, you might want to look at metal:

https://earlywarminiatures.com/product-category/ww1-1914-1918/ww1-1914-1918-mexican-revolutionary-period/

There may be more from other manufacturers, this is not my own area of interest. Regards, Pa

Some excellent ideas here.

Would suggest also the British 60pdr - widely used including the Gallipoli campaign.

Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

Thank you Strelets for another set to look forward too.

I'd like to add my vote to Richard's suggestion of French early war TZouaves, Tirailleurs, Chasseurs and Spahis. Regards, Pa

Re: Hopefully, by the end of 2020

I am supposed to be working at home during the lockdown ... but can't help myself looking at the forum.

I'm a lawyer by trade, but a historian by passion - with a particular passion for the Great War. One of the things I really like about Strelets figures is that they can be mixed very well with metal minis (Early War Miniatures complement Strelets very well). Further, being plastic they can be readily converted.

One thing I would point out is that for some of the more exotic uniforms of some units of the French Army in 1914, a bit of lateral thinking and the use of a scalpel will get results. The Crimean and even Napoleonic ranges (particularly as far as cavalry) have figures that can be pressed into service with minimal conversion. There are a couple of manufacturers of Zouaves that with appropriate modification of the rifles at this scale, work well.

Also, some of the Turkish troops from the Russo-Turkish War range can also be used as WW1 Ottoman troops (thinking here particularly of the artillery - there is plenty of photographic evidence that the Turks used ordinance that was almost antiques in the Dardenelles and Palestine).
