Re: Redbox 1805 Russians

Great news. Please also consider making troops of General Alexander Suvorov, known as the Russian Hannibal, during his campaigns during the French Revolutionary Wars.

Haron

please use light green for Russian, light blue for French, for future releases. And please to show preview for Orion coming sets, Thank you

Re: Haron

In the nearest future no new sets from me will exist.

Re: Haron

This is very sad news! Why, may I ask?

Re: Haron

nothing for Orion and Dark Alliance? very sad, looking forward for the Orion's Vietnam and German. Why, please tell us.

Re: Haron

Problem in finance

Re: Haron

May I have few suggestions, Cost/investment control is priority, same subject with many sets are Too costly (eg. set 1 (light), 2 (heavy), 3 (command)) and Nothing guarantee All three sets can sell well. Just make One mould/set having all the above three type is better, a slightly higher selling price with More sprue (maybe be 5 to 6) Most Important, please choose the better Sculptor, good details with Good poses sculpting. Frankly speaking, I did't buy every Redbox's product, Set 72044
Irish Troops is the most I likes, sculpting and poses just like Zvezda and Perry miniatures. lastly, looking forward for Haron, Redbox/Orion/Dark Alliance coming products.

Is not it strange to talk about the realization of red box on the site of strelets?

IMHO there was a time when we had a choice of "Open Forums" when we were calling those days "The New Golden Age." For my tastes, the Strelets' Forum is the last of the truly Open Forums with a casual, self monitoring format that we all respect and are careful to be respectful of all manufacturers. I like it!

Strelets' mission statement leads some of us to believe their job is to fill in gaps in the soft plastic hobby. Maybe so, but they have become a consistently major producer now covering all aspects of armies, and how lucky we are. Their superior quality and choice of sets, and in colors, and set formats now give us everything we need as collectors, hobbiests, wargamers, dioramists, ...

So overall, as for me, I'm glad they let us discuss pretty much everything and most anyone here.

Why? Well for example, my current projects are all related to the Boxer Rebellion, a major Colonial Era event. Redbox first gave us nearly all sets/armies needed to cover it. However Strelets is really stepping up and adding and improving on sets related to it. So this is appropriate to discuss other manufacturers products, especially since there can be overlapping subjects. Plus I just purchased a few sets of Fantasy figures to get the only Mandarin type poses for the Peking Imperial personalities in soft plastic I am aware exist. Until someone adds to the only two sets of Boxers I am aware of, then we only have 3 Imperial Chinese Infantry poses in one of the sets, and no others, and no famous Qing Dynasty Imperial personalities. What better place to discuss these needs, especially since Strelets now gives us some very fine Napoleon Bonaparte figurines.

So, for the overall health of the hobby of soft plastic figures, and in some very nice appropriate colors and exciting poses, if Strelets ever pulled the plug on the Open Forum format, it would become much harder to guage where the hobby needs to move on to next for so many of us with such varying interests.

Or not.

Re: Redbox 1805 Russians

Strelets have never inhibited debates on other manufacturers' products here, and that is also included in the forum's mission statement on top of this very page. It was only lately that one single competitor who should not be mentioned here.

GC, very excited to learn you are concentrating on the Boxer War now. Why not open a new thread showing us some eye candy? Would love to see your inspiring conversions, and of course the mandarin hat guy. Regards, Pa

Re: Redbox 1805 Russians

Hi Pa,

Thank you for the humbling compliments. I really appreciate it! I hope Strelets understands how much I appreciate what they do for us, too.

I wish I could post something but for two reasons, ...

First of which is I'm waiting for Strelets next round of releases to buy their Colonial British Infantry and Artillery sets for my "Defense of the British Legation" theme - and also the French Foreign Legion Desert Patrol and Artillery sets for the Foreign Legion Forts theme.

Secondly and most importantly, I don't know how to do it! :-(

If you, or AP, or anyone could recommend to me to a link or tutorial where I could read up on or watch and learn how to save pictures to be able to embed them in a post, I would be most grateful. I'm not trying to be lazy, just would like a recommendation so I'm doing the right thing.

OK, thank you, again!

Re: Redbox 1805 Russians

Hi GC,

not an expert so other members might offer more help than this:

It is my understanding two things are required:

1. You need to upload your images anywhere on the web (at any website, e. g. a photo hosting site or a Facebook page).

2. You then link the URL (internet address) of the image to your post on this forum. To make a link clickable for convenience, you put in front of the URL and at its end. Then you publish your post here as usually and everybody can access your image via the link.

Can I please ask to be corrected if wrong. Thank you. Regards, Pa

Re: Redbox 1805 Russians

Thank you, Pa!

Looks great but be patient. I spent the weekend helping my wife pack for a trip to her home town in Japan, and I just found out she's taking the digital camera with her. Durn, home alone and she's taking the camera. Oh well. I haven't taken any new hobby pictures in ages so I'll have to work on some small themes then practice your advice when she returns later in May.

OK, talk soon - GC

No. The Strelets forum is probably the only place (at least in non Russian/Ukrainian language) where you can directly speak and get information from such manufacturers.

I still remember the times when Haron's Orion forum ruled supreme. :pensive:
