Welcome to the Strelets Forum. Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets. If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
Swedish Infantry for 7,90 Euros at Ebay Germany at the moment. Imperial Infantry for 10,- €.
Plenty of choices there and at other places.
This absurd rip-off attempts may be typical for Ebay UK, but thats just a very small market when compared to the numerous opportunities on the continent.
It's called the "WWW" and it's up to the customer to choose carefully from the wide range of suppliers.
Maybe Revell will re-release the 30YW sets again anytime soon? You could contact them at their forum or at FB.
These are both auctions though and the starting price was 10 pounds. It seems that the same two people desperately want these sets and that plastic soldiers have more value to them than money. 20 hours left in the auction I think I'll have a look later to see how high this goes.
I've bid in auctions like this, for genuinely rare sets; I usually drop out quite early because adding on the postage to Australia puts the price into the ridiculous range very quickly. I take the view that however much you want the set there has to be a point where you decide it's just a set of plastic figures and paying that amount of money for them is just unrealistic. I also tell myself that if I really wanted the set that badly I would have bought it when it was on the shelf at my local hobby shop for $15.
I agree that these kind of prices are just too much, people need to get a grip on reality. But I can't blame the sellers, often they start the auction at a ridiculously low price.
Revell re-released half of their Napoleonics a while back and they've recently re-released 7YW stuff, perhaps 30YW will be next. I'm reminded of a set of green coated infantry that was selling on E-Bay for crazy prices like this earlier this year; seeing the demand the manufacturer restocked them and now you can buy them for RRP ha ha.:slightly_smiling_face:

Can you provide some links? I looked at Ebay de and found nothing at 10 euros, and nowhere on the net are they available at such low prices.
I have in fact emailed them and asked for re-release but no response.
Market forces, supply and demand, not the sellers fault or ebay`s, the fault of two people who should have bought the set or more of them at retail last time they were released. It does no harm to most of us. I sold a part box of figures a year or two ago, start price was £4.99, they sold for £39 the buyer was delighted, was that my fault or ebay`s? .....no it just was a reflection of how good the set is, how rare it is and how much people wanted it.
Tumbling Dice figures are not bad for wargaming metals, but Revells 30YW range is still much nicer & easier to handle.
After including shipping costs you end up with a ratio of approximately 0,80 €-Cent per figure.
This may be more favourable than the crazy prices obtained at ebay.uk yesterday, but -as demonstrated repeatedly by now- they are way more expensive than the rather reasonably priced Revell offerings (which contain 47 figures per box) elsewhere in the WWW.
And as the man said, he wants to field quite a number of figures. So the pricing seems to matter in this case.
I've tried most 30YW and ECW figures in 20mm and 1/72, the Tumblling Dice was nice, but I stopped, glueing heads on just was a chore, and quite frankly they have that metal look of figures with not so good proportions, and expensive. The Zvezda were perfect, but attaching small 1/72 hands with pikes and the large size put me off that brand too. Been thinking of a 3D printed line, if it's possible to use ringhands. The Revell ones were perfect, no assembly and perfect size.
I was lucky to be sold several sets of the Revell TYW collection at a very nominal price about 4 years ago. These form the basis of my Renaissance wargaming armies.
The ACTA ECW figures are a useful addition as is the Mars figures. One of my Covenanter Horse units is Mars with Tumbling Dice heads....fits in perfectly.
Metals are Tumbling Dice with a few Hinton Hunt, Warrior & others.
My small Parliamentarian army is all plastic, as is half my larger Royalist force. My Covenanters are all metal & I think they match the plastics well. Indeed, I have a Covenanter Dragoon unit with 5 figures per base. All but one figure are TD. The extra figure is ACTA (with a TD head) & I challenge anyone to pick it.
