Re: Wish List

Ten boxes, well maybe, but several boxes definitely : 1) British Paratroopers with Vickers medium machine guns, 3in Mortars 6 pounder anti tank gun included. 2) British Long range desert group foot figures and seated to fit Dragons great LRDG trucks. Figures to include fighting and road watch duties. 3) Durban mounted rifles or other Zulu war irregulars in braided jackets , foot and mounted. 4) 8TH ARMY seated figures/Tank riders 5) Africa korps seated figures /tank riders 6) More WW2 Japanese artilery , heavier caliber guns 7) A good set of British infantry for 1899-1902 8) Zulu warriors in regimental attire, very colourful and no one does any like it, although Qualiticast used to in metal. 9) The Indian mutiny ...full range both sides, better count that as 10 to 20 + :joy:

Re: Wish List

What the heck!

1) ACW Union Iron Brigade:
Early war with frock coat, gaiters & side flipped Hardee hat
Late war with no gaiters, shell jacket & brim down Hardee hat

2) Since Strelets loves to do WW2 infantry with national style hats; Scottish 8th army all wearing powder puff beret.

3) More AWI (pre-post) era Native American warriors.

4) Complete the US troops for the War Of 1812; regular infantry, cavalry, artillery, maybe some notable militia units.

5) Early WW2 US artillery, heavy weapons & cavalry.

6) WW2 Filipino Guerillas.

Re: Wish List

My wish list for what its worth

1 Napoleonic Brunswick Artillery
2 Napoleonic Prussian landwehr cavalry
3 Napoleonic French old guard in advance
4 Napoleonic Austrian infantry marching
5 Napoleonic Brunswick infantry marching
6 Napoleonic Bavarian infantry marching
7 Napoleonic Austrian grenadiers marching
8 Napoleonic Nassau infantry marching
9 WW2 German half track riders
10 WW2 USA / British half track riders

I know its a lot of Napoleonic sets but it what I like also I have a lot of halftracks that need gun crew & seated troops because they look unfinished when empty.

Re: Wish List

Well, one can wish for many things - here's my not short, and not exhaustive wish list of 1:72 figures

Ancients:
- Gallic missile troopes (archers, slingers, javelinmen, at least 4 poses of each, like the Roman Velites set)
- naked fanatics - could be paired with nobles, or light infantry, but more crazy barbarians with their willies out would be nice

Medievals:
- Hundred Years War knights and light cavalry to round out the recent men-at-arms and archers
- re-release of the Crusaders and Arabs (pretty please!), add maybe Templars and Hospitaliers
- town militia - bit more formed than the two peasants boxes.

WW1:
- Late British infantry - hard to believe there are no good wargaming set of these - the HaT Canadians are rather bad, Emhar's are kinda useless...
- WW1 Stormtrooper heavy weapons - minenwerfer, possibly a cannon, and so forth

WW2:
- to round out the desert, a nice set of DAK and heavy weapons (with MG34 on tripod, light and medium mortars, maybe a flamethrower
- LRDG and SAS - could be one set, but really needed
- late war British paras and heavy weapons - as it was mentioned with a Vickers, mortar, possibly a 6pdr gun, tho the latter might be better as a separate kit
- British commandos in berets for Normandy and beyond. The only one set for these is rather dreadful, and I couldn't find it anywhere.
- US Rangers & heavy weapons
- US para heavy weapons (possibly normal paras too)
- Hungarian infantry in summer uniform and heavy weapons (as a Hungarian - please! it's an untapped goldmine with IBG releasing all the Hungarian AFVs now)
- Winter War Finnish heavy weapons (MG, mortar, artillery crew)
- late war Brits in winter uniform
- Japanese para heavy weapons

I possibly forgot some of them, but these all would be pretty awesome.

Re: Wish List

Mike.

I really like some of your suggestions. Frogmen, interesting. Spies etc, definately, espescially if one looks like Alec Guiness and another looks like Edward Woodward. And Arcaeologists/ Paleontologists, YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Both serious, factual representations of the subjects and, also Cinematic cliches being chased by a bandaged Boris.

But ten boxes?:astonished: If Strelets made any of these subjects I'd love to buy a box or two.

Here's my wish list (complete until I remember all of the things I've left off):

Jacobite Rebellion.

British dragoons.
Royal artillery.
Jacobite cavalry.
Jacobite artillery.
Firing and loading poses for the Highland militias.
Command figures/personalities, Cherlie, Cumberland, Hawley, Cope on a galloping horse:laughing:
I'm really looking to Strelets and Redbox for these because they made such a good job of the previous sets.

Napoleonic.

Dutch/Belgian Carrabiniers.
Brunswick artillery.
Royal Navy oarsmen and ships boats.
Prussian Landwehr cavalry.
Ottoman troops, perhaps with a figure of Sir Sidney Smith.
Any Napoleonic personalities for the hundred days or the Peninsula that you haven't already done or are unavailable (ie the 013 set), I prefer mounted but I do convert from the dismounted ones.

I won't promise to buy ten boxes of each but I can manage more than ten boxes combined.

I don't do WWII but the SAS LRDG sets some of the guys have mentioned might tempt me. And Royal Navy gunners with 4" H/A guns or Oerlikons definately would.

Also I would buy any of the Gallic sets on Zirrians list.

Re: Wish List

1) ACW Firing lines for both sides.
2) ACW Iron Brigade
3) ACW Dismounted, skirmishing Confederate cavalry
4) WW2 British Paras for Arnhem
5) WW2 US late war infantry(with preponderance of M1 Garands, a few BARs and no Thompson SMGs, since every existing set has too many)
6) Jacobite Rebellion Highland militia firing
7) Jacobite Rebellion mounted dragoons
8) WW1 Late war British infantry
9) Colonial America Buckskin-clad frontiersmen
10) Colonial British Naval Brigade infantry

Re: Wish List

Ian, I'm glad you added Colonial Buckskin Frontiersmen! I totally forgot them. They've been on my list for ages.

Re: Wish List

Areas totally ignored to date
1. Early war British up to 1940 for battle of France, Norwegian, invasion of Britain , Homeguard.
2. Vichy French - Indochina, North Africa,East Africa and the Levant.
3. Seated troops for lorries.

Re: Wish List

My wish Mrs F R Y Godmother has always been for really useful well sculpted generic sets. Soldiers without equipment ( and shirts). I noticed somebody had turned the Revell WW2 German artillery into Americans to accompany the Diamond T dumpers. Sets like this could provide the basis for several periods. Seated troops for lorries maybe in t shirts. Without weapons etc could be for North Africa, the Pacific, Viet Nam.

Re: Wish List

My ten suggestions are: 1) French Foreign Legion 2ww. 2) Franco-Algerians Goumiers in Cassino 2ww, 3) ACW's Iron Brigade US 4) Indian Mutiny Wars 5) Marlborough (French, English, and their allies) 6) Highlanders and Lowlanders for Culloden 7) English grenadiers for Culloden 8) US Ranger 2WW 9) 1812 Russian Jaegers Napoleon 10) 2ww Gurkas. Greetings

9) 13th Century Chinese Song Dynasty Artillery
10 RCW Freikorps

Re: Wish List

All Napoleonics from me.

1. Prussian Artillery Train with limber/caisson (I need 34 teams, no idea how many boxes that would be)
2. Prussian Horse Artillery Guns and Gunners (8 Companies)
3. Netherlands Carabineers (Five boxes if 12 per box)

Re: Wish List

"What is your 1/72nd scale figure wish list? No more than ten choices. You have to be willing to buy at least ten boxes of these figures in soft plastic. Here is my list:"

OK, We have had so many new sets out recently that I need to add to (ACW and Lawrence of Arabia) that I only have two sets I wish for at this point in time. Here goes:

* Colonial British Infantry with Pith Helmet Cover and Neck Curtain for hot climates for (1) Boer War and (2) Kitchener in Sudan. Again, Link for photos of actual uniforms:

http://www.soldiersofthequeen.com/HollywoodRaj-WilliamQuinnellandTheFourFeathers1939.html

** A "Theme" set with Famous British Generals to include: (1) Winston Churchill, (2) Lord Kitchener, (3) Lord Wolosley, Charles (Pasha) Gordon, and more from the Colonial Era.

Not a big box at least two sprews with each Famous Personality (1) on foot, (2) Riding a Horse, and (3) Riding a Camel (if appropriate) like Kitchener. I'll get the Camels from the new sets.

Summary Notes:

*** No problem buying ten (10) sets of British Infantry to cover South Africa and the Sudan.

**** If you get your excellent Sculptor who made the S*R Turks and Lawrence of Arabia you may find heaps of wargamers and other newer customers jumping into your soft plastics to get these Famous Personalities for their Table Tops, with choices for on Foot, on Horseback, and on Camelback. I bought easily ten (10) sets of the ACW Famous Union and Confederate Famous Leaders to also make Conversions and just to have extras. All these years and Customers still ask for them.

That's all, just two sets, but I'll buy ten-plus of each easily!

Re: Wish List

Dear all,
If we have to buy 10 boxes, they have to be something ‘generic’.
I would echo
1. European colonial infantry 1860-1900 - bare heads or cloth caps, minimal webbing would let some be French, Italian as well as British.
2. Indian subcontinent - mutineers or irregulars: just a musket and traditonal dress would make them hugely flexible.
3. Afghan/baluchi folk from ~1880 could serve as Muslim warriors for a wide range of times and places.
4. I think the idea of figures with hardly any defining uniform is very clever - could act as gunners, ammunition carriers, cooks, pioneers, wagoners for multiple periods and armies have always had many such folk working in casual kit. Even regular infantry would not wear much uniform when doing seige work. And sailors...

Also French and proxy's in Indochina ,1960 colonial period many useful conflicts

Re: Wish List

Hi @ll,

in my opinion there are too less civilians in all campaigns.
Strelets has a lot of civilian sets in the ancient or dark ages campaign but for example in the acw or especial in ww1 or ww2 there are too less figures on the market.

ACW:
Field hospital (doctors, surgeons, nurses, wounded soldiers, visitors)
Politicians (lincoln, davis, etc.)
Refugees
Cotton plantations owner with field workers
Slaves
Battlefield sightseers

WW1 & WW2:
Refugees (germans, european, russian)
Life on farms & towns
Workers & Scientists
Camps

best regards
