In ancient times Airfix made a set of Civilians and one of them was an English Bobby directing traffic and wearing his helmet. I am wondering after all this time if there isn't another figure set that might substitute for an English Bobby or New York City Police Officer circa, 1900? Mostly I am looking for a helmet that looks a bit like those used by London or New York Police, 100 years ago or so.
There are all these colonial wars figures from several companies and several wars, one of them must be close.
The NYPD and London helmets were very similar in design.
Thanks.

Any interest in a modern police set?
I know there are a couple of sets that feature SWAT officers but ordinary cops are hard to find.Nypd would fit into a few scenarios.
Thanks Celtic, I have several of the Caesar Miniatures sets that work just fine for modern
police, particularly the SWAT types. Even certain Cowboys sets work okay for the American Southwest, even today.
I am looking for around 1900 for a War of the Worlds scenario, in some of the related fiction books British Bobbies were armed and fighting Martians in London. I figure NYPD uniforms are similar and would likely respond in like fashion.

The only Victorian/Edwardian figures I can think off in roughly 1/72(actually 1/76 but 23mm tall) are from Stadden Miniatures but these are intended for railway layouts, though their very nice and sort of remind me of "Gangs of New YorK".. sadly no bobbies yet... a bit static but good for a crowd:

Also these,Langley miniatures 1/76 not great but includes a fair range of Edwardian/Victorian 1920s figures:
Ironsides, that is the question I was trying to ask. What colonial era troops already on the market would work well for Bobbies or NYPD, circa 1900? My intention is to paint them an overall blue. I don't know enough about the helmets and weapons of colonial British troops to know what would look most like a British Bobby.
The table soccer game Subbuteo had an accessories set featuring several Policemen- including one mounted and Irregular Miniatures do some in white metal as part of their 'Riot' range.
Technically 1930s as part of their VBCW range but these Irregular Miniatures give the flavour of British police of an earlier era. Really they need longer tunics. http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/
This pic shows the two types of helmet. One is more like a firemans and other like the Zulu War British. The cape was worn by all forces and hides a lot but the equipment would be a belt and cartridge pouch. Notice they have trousers and boots and no gaiters/anklets.

The avatar pic looks like a 1960s/70s riot duty helmet. Met Police had the ER badge as did the RMP (Royal Military Police).
