Re: WW2 expansion

I'd welcome Dutch and better Poles. But how about Vlasov's ROA, Russian Liberation Army? Would be nice.

Re: WW2 expansion

Yes please Yes please and Yes please again not forgetting American artillery and Belgium infantry. What say you Strelets ?????

Re: WW2 expansion

KNIL troops would be great. I would buy them. They would work well with the Japanese troops and early war US Army. We also need Japanese Special Naval Landing Force troops in square rig.
I would like POA troops after a few more Pacific sets. Remember Thailand fought Vichy France in IndoChina after the fall of France to the Germans.

Nice that you mentioned the Vichy French. Their forces were active world wide - not just Indo China but East Africa (against Strelet South African troops, North Africa and the Levant (against Strelet 8th Army). I might ruffle a few feathers but there were certainly a sight more than of them than the Free French.

Just need a figure of police Chief from the film Casablanca!

Re: WW2 expansion

I would buy Vichy French troops for IndoChina. Tunisa, and southern France.

Re: WW2 expansion

I'd be really happy if they'd stick with the desert for a bit more - till they make some SAS and LRDG figures ;)

Re: WW2 expansion

What about Polish or Chech uprising fighters? Too controversial?

Re: WW2 expansion

Its history. You gotta make both sides to make a wargame.

Re: WW2 expansion

Vlasov's troops and LRDG both good choices, I'd like to see cold weather British commandos for Vaagso, etc - or cold weather Brits for late war Europe, plenty of cold war Germans, Russkies and Yanks but no Brits for some reason....

I'd like to see topics never made before, you can't have enough German WWII sets but there has to be a limit, but I'm sure Caesar will release "Early WWII German Cooks in summer dress" any day now.

Vlasov's troops haven't been done before, a proper Finnish set would be very welcome, and why not Slovaks? Never been done before. Also a real German WWII marching set, not like the Caesar with only a few figures that are actually marching,

I've only been collecting WWII for a few months now, and Caesar's sets taken collectively make an awesome army. They cover uniforms for early war, mid-war, and late war, and then summer and winter versions. You can verify these on YouTube biographies. I especially like the poses who can be following the StuG III assault tanks. They've got guys laying down fighting than can be used for the Battle of the Hedgerows. Lots of little antitank guns. Personally, I like your idea of a cook and his cart for urban fighting taking a break.

I've taken my magnifying glass and can really admire the details, such as pleated pockets on early war unforms, all the accoutrements hanging on the back so well done. I prefer early war with the high boots. A common feature was the eagle above the right breast pocket missing on all figures. Actually, I only found one figure with it, yet it was a common symbol on all uniforms (I think)! Weird omission. The tank riders are great and they have listed a half-track riders set. It would be nice because the half-tracks tend to be too tight for the existing figures.

On the other hand. Some of the best sets only have maybe 30 figures, and one only 18. That's too much money for 1/72 sets to not have a full 48 figures. I bought them anyway while I'm still around. Like they say, "I've never seen anyone take a loaded U-Haul to heavan!" Further, there are too few Officer poses. Airfix has a perfect shooting pose shooting a pistol, but again, only 1 per box. There is also only one casualty. With so many sets by Caesar, they should have several casualty poses both standing and prone.

Still, it's a good, solid, range for a basic German Army all throughout the war. Next I want to see how Strelets sets start fitting in also. Apparently the Fins and Russians had quite a bitter fight also during WWII. Again, I've got more homework.

By the way, Traveller, thank you for recommending the destroyed city dwellings. Your recommended sets were best for my purposes and I've got 2 sets on their way over from Poland to me in the U.S. Can't wait.

Cheers and have fun!

Been buying from the Caesar range too! So many great sets one can be ruined gotta be careful, their partisans are great and good for conversions too, the Stalingrad figures are tempting, but wrong according to PSR, love the surrendering pose though.

I received the ruins package from Poland today, look pretty good but I'm way too busy and tired to work on it now, but they will be great for my Berlin 45 project. Or Prague as I discovered they had an uprising too, using German figures for Vlasov's men and the partisans as the Chech fighters. If I may suggest another cheap and useful product, there's a walk path sheets on sale on ebay to use as ground for city scenarios:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-SHEETS-A4-EMBOSSED-BUMPY-COBBLESTONE-WALK-PATH-1-72-world-war-diorama/312006444936?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Received them today and look good.

I ordered some Soviet tanks too, HäT has a tank riders set I want, I wish Caesar did one for the Russians as their German tank riders are pretty awesome.

Speaking of cooks, in the Finnish Winterwar food carts actually had some role in deciding a battle, as Soviet infantry overran Finnish positions during one battle, they came upon the food stores and carts left behind by the Finnish, the starving Russians turned their attention to the food and got distracted, the Finns managed to defeat them. But still no food cart set or good Finnish figures so such a scenario has to wait.

Nice ones Mike, those landmarks are nice, just wish that statue would be available in 1/72!

The Victory Column? It is only slightly scaled down for more durability and easier storage.

Re: WW2 expansion

Preiser are often overlooked, possibly because they are hard plastic and in kit form (plus more expensive), but their Russian tank and German half-track riders are beautiful and open to conversion to many other subjects as the equipment is mostly separate.

Also hard to find. I wish someone would make that refugee set in 1/72 plastic.
