Re: To Strelets: Russo Swedish War?

The Russian-Swedish War of 1808-09 was a very interest side show to the Napoleonic Wars had the Swedes have been better prepared and if king Gustav IV had accepted the offer of 10,000 British troops led by General Moore they may have held onto Finland.

Certainly lots potential for what if Battles, you could bring in the British on the Swedish side and the Danes and Norwegians on the Russian side, some great, diverse and colourful uniforms would be on display.

If you want some more Swedish infantry how about 8233 Austrian Landwehr maybe out of stock but, are on a list to be restocked in the near future and if it's Capote (Cape) Greatcoats you want how about Strelets own British Line Infantry in Overcoats M094 and M097.

I still think we need some dedicated Russian Infantry in the 1808 Shako which was also worn at Borodino in large numbers.

In case your wondering what happened to General Moore's 10,000 British troops sitting in their ships in a Swedish Harbour, well they were sent to Portugal instead sparking the start of the Peninsular Wars, funny how history pans out, I guess with have king Gustav IV to thank for Richard Sharpe.

Thanks Brian, wish I'd known about the Austrian Landwehr set, a much better product, just hope it's restocked soon.

Some more conversion tips

Fairly obvious but in case you haven't twigged:

For more dragoons, use the Italeri Prussian Cuirassiers:

For more hussars, use the Revell SYW Prussian hussars:
http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=315

For more artillery (+ head swop)use Waterloo1815 Dutch artillery:
http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=326

Finally, I use a Strelets French marshal as Bernadotte, to lead the little force.

I really need to get another box of the HaT Swedish infantry though.....unless your plea to Strelets works!

Thank you Paintdog, actually there seems to be no urgent need for a new Swedish foot set, the Landwehr set is pretty good and those Italeri dragoons complete the HäT cav set just fine, Hät's own artillery for the period works too.
