Re: More Japs.....Japanese Type 96 AA/AT Gun.

Hi
Yes, this set appears very nicely sculpted, however, I was wondering if there will be a crew option of actually operating the gun, as I thought it very odd that everyone (4-5 figures) is just carrying/maneuvering ammo. Not sure about the guy with his hands at his chest, will he be carrying more ammo on his back?? I would think that a better crew ratio would be:- 1-2 carry ammo, the rest would interact and direct the weapon. What do you think?? Kind Regards

Re: More Japs.....Japanese Type 96 AA/AT Gun.

Alan, from the instructions and the sprue image I take it the barrel is movable, so you can choose the elevation level.

Since there already is a sprue, this set seems to be in production already so too late to change anything and better concentrate on the positive aspects:

First, it is good to have more Japanese hardware at all. Cannot comment on accuracy since images of the gun in this configuration are so rare. With 10 parts (sight included, which is great) this should be well within my modelling abilities, hopefully without the need of expensive "all plastics" glue.

Automatic guns consume lots of ammo so the ratio between ammo carriers and gunner is probably not off. Guns need gunners to fire them, we'll see how the guy with his hands at his chest works for that. The other poses are great and here's hope these guys will not be too tall for Japanese men. All round, a promising set!

Re: More Japs.....Japanese Type 96 AA/AT Gun.

This is a very welcome set. Perhaps some of the figures from the Japanese Infantry Heavy Weapons set could be used as crew as it does seem a bit puzzling that nobody is actually operating the gun. But I will certainly be adding a few of these to my collection!

Re: More Japs.....Japanese Type 96 AA/AT Gun.

Seems on the small side and a rather odd mounting, was expecting a tripod type like the Hotchkiss on which it is derived with only minor mods...

25 mm/60 (1") Type 96 Model 1

This site give the overall length at 90.4" or 226.39cm
Drawings etc

I think its based on this, though I know of no way of knowing if its actually a japanese mount, certainly doesnt seem normal for this type, looks like a split trail.

Artillery Sets

Hi Strelets,

WW2 is not my area of interest but it shows very nice figures and artillery piece, I hope you would reconsider the decision on Napoleonic annd ACW artillery sets as i thinks they would sell well and guns are a lot simpler than the gun modeled with this set.

Re: Artillery Sets

Dear Allan,

ACW artillery was pretty well covered by other manufacturers, wasn't it?

It most certainly is; what is lacking is good gun and limber teams for WW1 Middle east campaigns.
Strelets have proved that they can make really good figures (with excellent sculpting)
Could we possibly have the 13lb Royal Horse Artillery and perhaps the Indian Camel mounted guns.

Yes a Indian mountain gun mule train would be excellent.
As for 13pdr WW1 for the modellers and a ceremonial RHA set for the London tourists.

Dear Strelets, I'd like to see Strelets do for the American Civil War that you did for the Crimean War - Make a nice "Seige Gun" complete with a great looking "Artillery Crew" of the style in the attached picture, please. There is nothing like this available in 1/72 - Link (Give the picture a few moments to upload to just the one gun):

Re: Artillery Sets

Dear GarrisonClay,

it's a nice piece of a gun.
We thought about making fortress artillery for Sevastopol, something like that:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=sevastopol+big+guns&rlz=1C1GGGE_en-gbGB401&tbm=isch&source=iu&pf=m&ictx=1&fir=i--7mAv85vbcfM%253A%252CWLShdEAiPruGWM%252C_&usg=__p6Yg0S6Q-9hkv-CZ1T0MQVjjpHA%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwihhMmqmP_WAhUGvBoKHQCrAyQQ9QEILjAC#imgrc=LV-Ig3C4zcQZoM:

Back then we decided to refrain, as we were unsure, whether these pieces would be interesting for the public.

Re: Artillery Sets

On this subject, Japs and Guns that is, how about a big artillery piece , like one of the guns the japs captured at Singapore and then relocated to one of their pacific island conquests ?

Re: More Japs......

YESSSS!!
Great figures....and very welcome set.
BUT
PLEASE....make them in a suitable size that will fit with your lastly produced heavy weapon set.
SIZE DO MATTER!

Having a continuity on set's with more or less the same size of figures is a MUST.

Thanks Strelets, keep the good work up.
As a Pacific War and FETO war fans.....you got me with every Jap's set you'll produce.....if sizes are correct

ACW Siege guns.

There´s quite a few in 1/72nd

More modifications?

Definitely in my must have list. Dear Steelers, do you plan next expansion of subject like double and triple versions of this gun?

Re: More modifications?

Dear Buddy,

no, we don't have such plans.

Best regards,

Strelets
