Welcome to the Strelets Forum. Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets. If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
Agree regarding the officer's headgear. A helmet or keffiyeh would be much more appropriate (and the sword is probably out of place as well, but that's easier to resolve).
Other than that, looks like it's going to be a smashing set, and I may have to buy myself some even though my WWI collection is exclusively Western Front at the moment.
The officer wearing the Fez is one of my favorite poses. I hope this shows up on all of the sprews in the box. I plan on using him for conversions. There are plenty of photos showing officers wearing Fez's in WWI.
I hope there will be another set with all the soldiers wearing the Kabalak That style helmet looks so cool they deserve to have their own set.
Truly outstanding work! If Strelets wants to keep up the WWI Ottomans theme to supplement existing sets from a certain other manufacturer, you should also consider a set of cavalry wearing the kaffiyeh like these infantrymen. That was more common wear during the campaigns in Palestine and Arabia, and would provide perfect enemies to Lawrence's Arabs and the Aussie Light Horse.
Two other interesting sets to explore in the future would be Ottomans in winter uniforms for campaigns against the Russians in the Caucasus and a late war set of Ottoman assault troops with the rimless stahlhelms. The Ottomans in winter gear could include a ski trooper or two, as the Turks used them in the winter of 1916-17 with German advice.
Very nice set. So many uses. Dare I say these men will join in on the derailment and attack of a Turkish train in a famous movie? Can't wait to see the rest of the poses!
Not only will these guys be involved with a Mummy, but my Airfix second edition and Esci / Italeri French Foreign Legion troops will finally have a worthy enemy.
