Re: "Waterloo" Movie Program

Thank you for sharing that link GC. It brings back many memories of first seeing the movie at age 10 with my father, followed shortly by copies of movie related books at xmas, and the timely release of Airfix highlanders and French heavy cavalry.I will definitely keep note of that blog. My favourite shot has always been the rear view of the Highland battalion advancing. It looks close to a realistic representation in numbers (if not actually deployed in line) of one of the Highland battalions weakened after Quatre Bras.

The planned Strelets' releases are already earmarked to replace some very ageing and not so well painted Allied soldiers.

I have to admit though despite images in the movie, books and well known paintings, I was disappointed later in life to realise that the three British battalions in Highland dress being deployed to the left of La Haye Saint did not actually participate and form square in response to the massed French cavalry charges. Quatre Bras was another matter though....

I think that Strelets is doing a brilliant job with current and planned releases in Napoleonic marching, Hastings, ACW, and WW2 Jungle themed sets, keeping may varied interests alive (oh, and more Romans too)

Anybody who's interested in the Napoleonic Wars and likes movies, then they have likely been captivated by the 1970 movie "Waterloo." And if that is so, then Strelets new sets should reawaken the excitement of the British Squares and large Cavalry Charge scenes in the movie. Below is a link to a kind reproduction of the movie program by the blogger mentioned above. Click on each picture, and it will enlarge. My favorite picture is of the Highlanders Square ... :

Thanks for posting this. I already have the DVD but just ordered the CD-soundtrack after reading your post, mostly because of the cool cover

A bit disappointed that there was no souvenir programme for Gettysburg when I saw it at a cinema.

Dear Traveller,

I've got a comprehensive VHS collection, but it's getting harder and harder to find Players for them. So I'm now replacing my favorites with DVD's. Just got Glory and Gettysburg and Horse Soldiers. Simple luck that Strelets is coming out with their beautiful ACW Range at the same time. Can't wait. OK, enjoy!

Kindest regards - GC
