Re: Strelets foot Boers

There is a set on ebay now, £30 asking price .....

Re: Strelets foot Boers

Any chance the foot Boers will be re-issued? I stupidly neglected to buy them and as of now they are impossible to find, even on eBay. If anyone has a complete set they do not want, even if they are off the sprue and/or without a box, I would be very interested in buying them.

Hi Mark T, You have done nothing wrong. I went to both eBay.US and eBay.UK for Boer Foot Soldiers and nothing came up for sale on either country at any price. Guess the 30BritPounds/Set got snapped up!

I think we can do better for you than 30BritPounds/Set for Boer War Foot Soldiers.

So, if you are serious about buying them Mark T., then here is what I do:

1. "Google" and "Images" your product.
2. Click on any links that come up.
3. Check it out for availability!
4. If not your native language, just use GoogleTranslate to determine availability and Shipping.
5. Then any currency ap to figure out total cost.
6. Works for me!

Mark T., if you are willing to pay 30BritPounds/Set, then you can have all I have at that price! But if not then ...

Here is a link with them for sale right now. Whether in Europe or the U.S., these are very competitively priced. Shipping from Europe to the U.S. is minimal; no worse than USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc:

There are 8 boxes in that auction. I think that's about 7.50 U.S. a box, but for brits only. I'd buy from Germany where the Euro converts to the same 7.50 U.S. I've bought many 1/72 sets from Linear-B and other German sellers where the cost is even lower than here and the shipping is very reasonable and packages arrive quickly, even all the way to the U.S.

Re: Strelets foot Boers

The original question was:impossible to buy...well not quite the case, expensive, and maybe a level of negotiation required, but not impossible...No not true.

30 Brit Pounds per set totally misleading! A little home work and these sets are still available at a reasonable market price of 7.50 USD on the global market. Global meaning look outside one's comfort zone and benefit from some really great international sellers.

I have my favorite German Sellers to the US, and I also have my favorite brit Sellers to the US, nobody is safe!

Re: Strelets foot Boers

Thanks for the input, guys! A poster showed me that Lucky Soldier had 2 boxes available at $16.04 each including VAT (whatever that is). However, postage to the USA would have been a minimum of $30! I don't need them THAT much.

Fortunately another poster has made me a more reasonable offer. This is a wonderful forum. I have to stop just lurking and be more active here.

Great news! Glad to hear Santa's Helpers were reading the forum and can help you out. Happy Holidays!

Re: Strelets foot Boers

P.S. Mark T.,

It's been so long I forgot that some of my very first Conversions ever were inspired by Strelets-R Colonial Boer War sets. I copied the link below. A few of the last pictures used the Boer Infantry in Head-Swops and Cavalry as Riding Artillerymen.

After I finished, Strelets-R came out with the British Highlanders 1898-1902. Some day I'd like to update a few of the British Artillerymen with Head-Swops using the really cool Pith Helmets with Neck Curtains. Some day ... It's really a great Range with unlimited potential for new figures. Have fun with your new sets! :-)

Re: Strelets foot Boers

GarrisonClay, I checked out the site you linked and postage to the USA raises the price of one box from a reasonable 8,95 Euros to 60,92 Euros! That's a little steep for me! Unless I am doing something wrong, it only offers me one postal option with an exorbitant rate.

Shipping costs

Mark. T just write to the shop. Many shops are using postage calculators leading to much too pricey results. From Germany I could sent the Boers as a registered international letter at only 5,50 Euros (worldwide).

Re: Shipping costs

Thanks for the tip about contacting the stores, 0nn0. I was wondering about that as I often buy toy soldiers on eBay from Asia with much cheaper postage, many times even free. I was puzzled that European orders would have such expensive shipping rates by comparison.

Hi Mark,

I tried to respond to you last night, but the spam safeguard here deleted my work. Whether the UK, Asia (Taiwan) or the rest of Europe, you should find very competitive equivalent costs to home. Keep in mind, the Euro is attractive now. Sometimes the British Pound doesn't convert at a favorable exchange rate, so as Mr. Onno recommends, e-mail the seller for "options." All of my overseas (and local) sellers have bent over backwards to keep costs down to win my business. I've never been quoted a cost anywhere near as high as the one you mentioned and I would certainly never pay it either. I apologize if they were serious about such high shipping charges. :-)

OK, Happy Hobby Hunting
